Arthur Lowe's Height

English actor, best remembered for playing Captain Mainwaring in Dad's Army. In a book about Lowe, talking about getting work in the 1940's, the author described him: "even if they were only 5ft 4 in short, weighed just 124lbs, and were skinny, bald, bespectacled"

Another height I saw not long ago, I will mention here is Arnold Ridley used to have himself as 5ft 9. Of course never looked anywhere near that, though had shrunk by the time of the show, and his posture wasn't exactly great either.

Clive dunn must have been about 5ft 6-7 judging by seeing them together. And Arnold Ridley too? Would this be accurate rob?

Editor RobDunn might have been close to 5ft 7, although he used to have himself listed in spotlight at 5ft 8. I'm sure Ridley lost 1-2 inches of height by the time he was in Dad's Army

Ha ha! Good old Captain Mainwaring! I doubt if he was only 8st12 when he was in 'Dad's Army'! Anyway, I wouldn't consider that weight overly skinny for a man of 5ft4, but on the slim side - yes!
I have seen him written up as 163cm, but I don't think that they bother with fractions on that sort of listing.
5ft4 is fine for him.
