How tall is Ben Fogle

Ben Fogle's Height

6ft 0 (182.9 cm)

British TV Presenter. In An April 2011 Guardian article he mentioned his height: "I'm 6ft tall and have never had an issue with it, but recently I've been surrounded by taller people - rowers, in particular, are huge - so I wouldn't mind an extra inch or two."

I always thought that I was reasonably tall until I befriended [the double Olympic oarsman] James Cracknell. I’m just over 6ft which I’d always been very happy with, but in the last year I’ve suddenly thought it would be quite nice to be just a teeny bit taller.

Would've thought he was taller than this but maybe that's just because reminds me of Ryan Reynolds

Strange that he look 6'1 with Amanda Owen.

I have always thought he looks so much like Prince William, and I could hardly say that if he was small! Well, I could, but I'd have to say that he looks like a small version of the prince. At 6ft, to call Ben small wouldn't be right!

That is what he can have - 6ft.

I've stood right next to him and think he's under 6foot. I'd go with 5'11.5, just didn't seem quite a solid 6foot imo. I'm 6'0.75 and felt easily taller than him.

He does looks a solid 6ft in all honesty. I wouldn't argue lower.

5'11.75-6'0 is what he looks somewhere between that range, what do you think Fogels height is Rob? 5'11 3/4-5'11 7/8? or do you think hes a real 6 footer?

5'11.5 is more accurate for Ben

Rob you should have a page for Steve Redgrave, Britain's former greatest olympian. Solid 6'5".

Actually seeing the picture

Pincent -6'5"
Redgrave 6'4.5"
Cracknell 6'3.75

Rob you most certainly should have pages on our Olympic rowing heroes!

@ Jed

In my view Pincent looks a little taller than Redgrave. I would estaimate Pincent to be a legit 6'5" 196cm guy. Redgrave could be 6'4.5" 194-5cm rrange but close enough to be labelled 6'5". Cracknell has been listed at 6'3" on the rowing website. I saw him interview a legit 6'5" guy once and he looked two inches shorter. Compared to 6'2.5" David Walliams Cracknell looks like a strong 6'3". I think he'd measure 6'3.5" at one point in the day. But to be fair he often looks about 4 inches taller than Fogle who does not look under 6'.

@ Agon. You do know that Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pincent are legit 6'5" ers? At worst Cracknell looks 6'3.5" in that photo and who knows what the floor level is like

Cracknell certainly doesn't look 6'4'' in this photo.

Rob, just putting this out there because I've met, stood near to a fair few rowers at Henley/indoor events in 2009. I was about 5'11.5-6' (think I was being a little generous with a 6' claim at indoors, but certainly was 6' flat at Henley 6 months later)

At indoors I saw Matthew pincent and Tom James. Pincent was often listed at 6'4-6'5 and certainly looked near enough that. My coach is 6'5 and looked a little taller. Tom James I stood 2 metres away from watching the medal presentation (Olympic gold medalist in 2008), he's listed at 6'2-6'3, yet in running shoes - like I was - had about 1.5" on me. If that. 6'1 flat at best I'd say.

At Henley I saw Redgrave in dress shoes up close. My coach stood next to him in flip-flops (knows him somehow) and was the same height. Redgrave is definitely a little under 6'5. Nearer 6'4 I'd say. Rower's heights are often inflated. Especially during the boat race. I also think the significance of height in rowing is heavily overstated. They operate a 'world class start' program, and a 'sporting giants' program which require you to be 6'2 and 6'3 respectively to take part in. That is of course if you perform well enough in the strict tests for it. The joke is, however, that evidently the taller the better is not strictly true - supported with the number of 6'1/6'2 guys in the past few Olympic squads and the number of 6' guys (or under) in the boat race crews. By setting the mark at 6'3 - or the 97th percentile, instead of 6', the 80th percentile, they are completely closing off their talent pool for the sake of a couple of inches of height and wingspan. It's a complete joke.

I stood next to Ben at South Kensington tube station and 6 foot sounds about right (he was wearing Dunlop blue flash).

James Cracknell looks more of a genuine 6'4 guy than clint eastwood did.
Shaun said on 20/Apr/11
For some reason though when I heard James Cracknell say on TV "I'm 6'4" I was like, really?? Similar to my reaction when I heard Clint Eastwood was 6'4". I had assumed both of them to be 6'2" ish to the casual eye.

Certainly doesn't look under 6'4" next to 6'5" Steve Redgrave does he?

Editor Rob
I think if he's not 6ft 4 he's close enough to round to it.

Rob. Do you think James Cracknell's 6'4" claim is legit?

Six flat looks right. He's about 3 or 4 inches shorter than James Cracknell who is a strong 6'3".
