Chris looks considerably more than 200lbs in the above picture.

I always thought he was taller than the listed 5ft11. He didn't look much less than Quentin Tarantino and Michael Madsen in 'Reservoir Dogs', so yes, I thought he was at least 6ft or a fraction over. It's high time I dig out my DVD!⁴

Remember the thunderous great noise that the two scrapping friends made when they were having a fun fight in the above film? (Chris, who played Nice Guy Eddie and Michael Madsen, who played Mr White)
So funny, as was their slanging match!

for all the doubters especially marcus down there, in best of the best hes barefoot with eric roberts next to him as well as the rest of the fighters and hes about the same hieght as roberts...his boots gave him close to 2 inches..so if he was 5"10.5 barefoot hed be over 6 foot in most movies...he loved his boots...great actor by the way he was great in true romance...

i actually thought this guy could look minumum 180. If i remmeber right he was listed 178 before and i thought " no way" i think he was a guy that could be up to 181 on good days and little under on bad days. The lisitng is good now

A fairly enormous guy who is sadly missed!
His overwhelming presence in Reservoir Dogs had me thinking that he was at least 6ft.
He looked nothing like his brother, Sean, that's assuming they are brothers. In fact they look polar opposites.

That picture of him above is kind of hard to look at. His weight is partially what killed him. In movies like Footloose, All The Right Moves and Rumble Fish he looked like a taller version of his brother.

Rob can you add a photo? He really had an easy two inches on Kevin Bacon in Footloose I thought. As James says he looked about 6 ft in it. Looks taller than 5 ft 11 in every film.

He's listed in most places at 6ft1(185cm) but I think he was 1in or more down from that by 1992.

In Best of the Best he looked only marginally taller than Eric Roberts and Philip Rhee. They were all wearing cowboyboots although Roberts looked like he was about to fall over. Philip claimed 5'9.5 and if anything was taller than Roberts who himself claimed 5'11. Watching it again Chris certainly wasnt less than 179cm so somewhere 5'10.5-5'11 is good for him.

You made a good call upgrading him I think. Definitely taller than 5 ft 10, but I honestly think he could have been nearer 6 ft actually. He looked pretty similar to Christopher Walken in The Funeral I think. Nothing under a solid 5 ft 11. 181-2 might be a better shout actually than 180. He has been described as 6 ft but if you really watch his films like Reservoir Dogs and The Funeral he does look near it.

I think it's funny how Penn is supposed to be 5'10" and Tom Sizemore is supposed to be 5'11". His build could make him look shorter, but I don't believe he was under 5'11".

I agree with Dmeyer. Somewhere between 5ft10 and 5ft11 is likely. He was 4in shorter than Madsen and maybe 2in taller than Buscemi.

Whoa! Not even close, Rob. Chris Penn at his peak height was about 5'11.5. That article above is wrong. Look at him compared to Eric Stoltz in "The Wild Life" or Kevin Bacon in "Footloose." He's got an inch on both of them. 5'11.5 it is.

Something is off here. I just watched the 80's classic "Footlose" and Chris Penn is visibly taller than Kevin Bacon, yet both are listed almost the same height here. So either bacon was still growing or if you ask me: he is shorter than what Rob lists him at. Penns height is correct.

He looked tall when he was thin. When I was younger and saw "All the right moves" I seriously thought he was well over 6'. He looked more average height though as he got heavier, as most people do.
