How tall is Rod Stewart ?

Home :: Bookmark :: About

Rod Stewart height: 5ft 10in (178 cm)

English (with Scottish allegiance) singer best known for songs such as Tonight's the Night, Maggie May and Da Ya Think I'm Sexy. He used to get terrible press about being a midget. I guess being with tall ladies like Rachel Hunter and Penny Lancaster didn't help, although he doesn't seem to bother, once saying "I don't mind if a girl I go with is taller than me, because it means she has long legs, and that's IT for me."

On the Parkinson tv chat show he even showed a newspaper once, complaining about this public perception that he's a miniscule 5ft 5, when in fact he's more 5ft 10 range. In fact he has been quoted giving his height as both 5ft 10 and 11.

Parker, he's wearing heeled dress shoes and she's in flats, and to be honest I do see a near 3 inch difference between them, don't be fooled by his hair. I can't see him above 5' 10" nowadays, maybe in his prime he could have been close to 5' 11" though.
Spirit Level says on 12/Aug/14
I'm not disputing him being 5' 10". But I'd be very surprised if he measured 5' 11" barefoot, Parker. As I said, he can pull off looking 5' 11" but that's when he wears his distinctive heeled footwear - or when Penny stoops slightly. He may actually wear them just because he likes that type of shoe and they suit him - as opposed for height gain.

@spirit level
Why would he give a rats backside whether he was 5'10 or 5'11.? I watched a documenatary last night, they had some footage of him playing football from his younger days - really long legs. He looked every inch 5'11 to me.

Most shots with his 6'1 wife she has significant heels on, but on the odd occasion she isn't there doesn't look a 3 inch difference IMO.

5' 10" peak height. Could often look taller with bigger heeled footwear, so I can see why he claims 5' 11".

I used to own BESTIES in Hermosa Beach, CA, I was 6'2" and stood between Rod and George several times. George who I saw many, many times was 5'6, max 5'7. Rod was an easy 5'10-11 in street heeled shoes.
Parker says on 25/Apr/14
Claims 5'11 in his autobiography.
Parker says on 18/Apr/14
Here's Rod with his 6'1 wife. You cannot see her shoes, but lets assume she's barefoot, certainly she must be in footwear that gives virtually no height gain.

Rod cannot be under 5'10

LOL. Missy you've picked the worst possible photo for comparison!!! Her in heels and him on lower curb. If you seem them together in flats on level ground she looks a little over 3 inches taller only. I'd guess 5'9.5".

He looks 6 inches shorter than wife in the above pic, but she has got 4" heels on.
Also in a paper article it was talking about his amazingly slim figure at 12and a half stone. So that is only a slim weight if you are tall enough to carry it off. If he was short at that weight, he would be obese.
He only looks an inch shorter than Piers as well, but taking into consideration Morgan probably isn't standing bolt upright.
So I think 5ft10 sounds right, no complaints. Good on Rod for not exaggerating his height.

Here's Rod with his 6'1" wife. She's actually got bend knees here.

Which makes me think that he's probably 5'8" & George Best was probably 5'6"
Cliff says on 12/Jan/14
Such differing estimates for Rod, but he doesn't look short in any pics I see of him. I mean he looks 6inches shorter than his wife in the above pic, but she is wearing 4inch heels, and he looks maybe an inch shorter than Piers, but I take into account Piers probably isn't standing bolt upright.
But in the paper today it was talking about how slim he was at 12 and a half stone, and that isn't that slim unless you are pretty tall.
So I would say 5ft10 is about right.

Looks max 2 inches shorter to me. Should put to bed the absurd 5'6 comments.
[Editor Rob: I can understand why it annoys Rod, being called 5ft 5 or whatever and knowing fine well he's near 5ft 10]

I'd bet top dollar on 178 cm, back in the '70s. And 176 cm now.

It's what I call 'The Bon Jovi Effect'. Rod still manages to look 5' 10.5", by wearing thick heeled boots - although they do suit him style wise.

I'm 5' 9.75" and trust me, I do the same to look nearer 5' 11" on some occasions...

I was in an elevator with
Rod Stewart and I think you can see his feet in his driver's license picture. He can't be more than 5'6".
Parker says on 18/May/13
Taller than Alan Carr (listed 5'9) last night
5'10 and change IMO.

weak 5ft9/strong 5ft8. 5ft10 is a bit too much.

Nah- Had an easy 2 inches on Denis Law pictured in the 70's (pic of Denis with Rob on this site)

He is no shorter than 5'10, probably 5'10.5
Worked security back stage, and walked him to and off of stage. Was within 1 foot of him at times.
No shorter than 5'10.

I saw him at a concert and he looked around 5'9-5'10.

Yeah 5'9.5" currently I'd say.

Looked close to Jimmie Fallon's height just now, so 5-10ish sounds right, looked like he was wearing fairly normal shoes.
Parker says on 24/Oct/12
Saw a pic next to his wife in flats in a UK newspaper today. Not less than 5'10, could be 5'11.

I worked back stage security on Rod Stewart's dressing room (in 98 or 99 I think) and I don't care what anyone says He is TINY! I am only 5 foot 2 inches and he seemed small to ME! He is no where near 5'9'' ( My Husband is 5 foot 9 inches my Father is 5 foot 9 inches)I'd say MAYBE 5'6'' He is just a very petite man.

No offence but if he was 5 ft 6 Kelly Jones form the phonics is struggling with 5'0". He's near 5 ft 10 but for some reason always gives off a short impression, doesn't help having a 6 ft 1 wife in heels..
Matt Hopper says on 12/Jun/12
I meet him some years back. We shared flight from LA to Auckland NZ. He was sitting just next row. Thought this guy lookes like Rod Steward but then I noticed Penny and the rest of the clan. We walked around with no shoes on. I am 172 cm, a strong 5'7, but he had almost twon inches on me. A good 5'9 flat.
ANDREA[ITA] says on 6/Feb/12
If he really is 5'10, her wife is no less than 6'2, more like 6'2.5!
