Adidas NMD R1 are a trainer first released in 2015. With boost midsole and plugs, these offer great cushioning.
In terms of thickness, the outsole looks like it would provide at least an inch, but I measured the NMD at JD Sports and found it gave about 22mm, or almost 0.9 inches of height.
