He does look shorter than Geena Davis in that clip RisingForce posted despite his footwear advantage. Ive always thought he was 5'10ish. I go back and forth between 5'10.25, 5'10.5 and 5'10.75. After watching that I'm back to a bit over 5'10.

@HonestSlovene I think Rick is either 175,5 or 176 so the max Pitt can be is 178, But I would say 177 is more accurate, he does not look much taller at least not more than 178 (never in this film), but still taller, maybe 1 to 2 cm, so somewhere between 176,5 and 178, not far from it. Editor Rob a proportion can definitely get to 53 without any noticeable loss. It becomes harder once you get over 60 to avoid loss, but I think a guy like Brad has probably not lost anything noticeable...if we are talking 2-3mm then it is mostly undetectable!
I think that age 60-65 zone is were a chunk of men will lose a half inch or so.

Hijopotamus, no need to be condescending. It's foolish to believe that when two people film a scene together that somehow the difference must be about about what the measured difference would be. All we can tell is who appears taller. The actual difference will depend on Geena's hair vs Pitt's hat, plus, in the scene, Geena bumps into Brad, lifts him up, Brad turns around and Geena walks by him to one side and it's outdoors to boot. Not exactly like two standing side by side indoors and standing tall for comparison. Even with a seemingly ideal comparison to the laymen, a camera lense alone or camera placement can make a difference appear bigger or smaller than it is. A height comparison in a movie is not a substitute for a measurement, nor is it even possible to give more than a rough estimate of the difference when we can only compare by eye level. Btw, we judge 1 cm differences on this site all the time. Go look at any page where Rob has taken a photo with someone either 172 or 174 cm. I'm far from the most precise on this site. Just look at mt post on the Christian Bale page a while ago where I said I see it as superfluous to speculate about possible 1/4" height losses, same thing on the Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise pages.

I bet Cornell was quite a bit taller than Pitt at that event(Toronto Film Festival) which would show in better pics, particularly full pics. I could find pics like that where Sly Stallone looks 6'1"-6'2" on days where he was only wearing sneakers with lifts. At the same event, Pitt only looks 5" taller than 5'6" Jonah Hill: Click Here And even better, look at Pitt with a roughly 5'6" Angelina Jolie who will be about 5'9" in heels, or a little over: Click Here Pitt looks about 3 inches taller, so he's about 6 feet in shoes, which happen to be his dress boots with a Cuban heel around 1.4" or 1.5". Why complicating things? Just see what height are Gwyneth and Jen Anniston and have an easier guess.

The fact that his official height is listed as 5'11 makes me think he's more in the 5'10.5 range. Strong 5'11 celebrities almost always list themselves as 6'0.

I bet a lot of measurements are dodgy. I measured a guy barefoot and read 5'8 flat , but remeasured him recently and got 5'7 1/8 after being up late one night. . I bet 5'7.25 is what he averages to.

You could look at all the anecdotal evidence combined such as Pit preferring bigger heel styles and almost always a boot (much easier to conceal lifts) and while good posture in itself shouldn't be suspicious, Pitt's perfect posture makes him a better candidate as well as "growing" in his 30s, often looking noticeably taller than he claimed to be and bigger height fluctuations than usual. He also does give that illusion at times that he's wearing bigger (external) heels than he actually does. There has been at least 1 time I thought he might have had a decent size lift in a sneaker as well.

Honestly, most people just naturally exaggerate their heights on a daily basis. It's sad but for them it's an ego boost. we dont know if he really wear lifts in the shoes. he was 1,5 cm shorter than ryan gosling who is 183-183,5 but had 1 cm better posture i guess that would make him about 180,5-181. I'm 5'10 on shoes, 5'9 barefoot. People always see me on shoes. Like everyone. So I prefer to say I'm 5'10...But I'm only 5'9. I really hope Pitt could be 5'9 barefoot. Pitt is an icon, and I'm not feel short anymore, if I'm "tall" like an icon. But Pitt or not, 5'9 is a short height. However Pitt barefoot is a strong 5'10. I'm 5'10 on shoes, 5'9 barefoot. People always see me on shoes. Like everyone. So I prefer to say I'm 5'10...But I'm only 5'9. I really hope Pitt could be 5'9 barefoot. Pitt is an icon, and I'm not feel short anymore, if I'm "tall" like an icon. But Pitt or not, 5'9 is a short height. However Pitt barefoot is a strong 5'10. I can't reach 6'1 in elevator-mode if I'm 5'9 barefoot!!

I know the bootmaker he uses for his dress shoes and at the absolute maximum they can make you 2cm tallers. They have loads of celebrity customers and usually max out the possible heel height for them before it gets problematic or uncomfortable.

berta, even if you see only 1cm difference, he has at least half an inch heel advantage. Fallon's shoes have virtually no sole, and Pitt's are very generous. I think that a decent 179 cm for Brad is the most that I would go.

What's surprising about the pics with Bernthal is Pitt has boots and doesn't look that tall next to Shia Labeouf who is only 5'8.5", imo. Tyrese could look taller in comparison. He looked 5'10.5" with Rick Schroder in Across the Tracks and looked shorter in cowboy boots than 6' Geena Davis did in flats.
