"Six feet tall and weighing 270 pounds."

While 6' Burl Ives was 245 pounds,I best remember him for his narration of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reinderr and his Best Supporting Actor Oscar he nabbed for The Big Country showed he could work any movie genre with winning results! (The theme for "The Big Country" was later used on "Laramie.")

Yeah, thanks for adding...accurate listing. Although already at 10 listings for him, for my childhood and probably others he is probably best remembered as the voice of the snowman/narrator in Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

Great addition Rob, thanks. Asked for him a while back. Can you squeeze in The Spiral Road, Our Man in Havana, Jules Verne's Rocket to the Moon and Just You and Me, Kid. IMO he is what made The Big Country a classic above a very good western film. Great in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof too, though I thought the film was overrated.
