Virgil Riley Runnels Jr. was an American wrestler, who in 1979 said "I'm six-foot-one, 250 pounds of screamin' steel and sex appeal."

He was probably 6’ flat maybe, and the wrestling, weight and age shrunk him

JT is correct! Peak Dusty Rhodes was 5’11.75”...by his 60’s, he was down to 5’10.5”. Dusty also wore Cowboy boots 90% of the time out of the ring. And his ring boots also had a pretty chunky sole on them.

@JT "Rhodes was noticeable shorter than 6’1” guys like JYD and Ron Simmons. IMO he was more 5’11”ish like Ric Flair Click Here (both in dress shoes) Rhodes with Jerry Lawler and Brian Blair Click Here"
Dusty's forehead is clearly much higher than Flair's, and his chin meets Flair's mouth.

Rhodes (age 52) in Timberline style boots looks pretty short with Big Show and Ed Leslie from 1998

I'm sure a Dusty in his 20's was at least 6ft range, but by latter years did lose height...
the thing is, both Dusty and Ric Flair both claimed 6ft 1, I'd have said Rhodes was taller than Ric back in the day.
Flair claimed 6ft as his peak, never heard him say 6ft1?

Ah, poor Dusty is no longer with us. I checked and found that he passed on in 2015, aged a meagre 69. That's no age these days.
I found on the page Google forwarded me onto that he has a height entry of 188cm.
His self-confidence is almost refreshing. Like so many sportspeople, Dusty propped up his wrestling career with acting - good luck to him for that! There's an awful lot of time to while away between matches....
🎬😁👍.....💪😆
He gets 6ft1 from moi.

Glad that he finally has a page here.

Obviously shorter in later years.

Would have guessed more 6ft flat peak but this is believable aswell. He was billed 6ft1 and 6ft2, in wrestling boots was probably the latter

Absolute legend to the industry certainly pulls off near 6 foot 1

Rob, I recon he shrinked a lot in his later years and also lost tons of weight.

Big Dust at his peak was 5’11.75” barefoot & 6’1” in shoes/wrestling boots. Was 265 lbs (easy) by the mid 1980’s.
