@ Sandy Cowell - Yes, that percentage who say they are shorter than what they are should be higher than what it is! There is something quite beautiful about short people (all genders) and there is something quite beautiful about average and taller people (all genders) too, it is also refreshing when people deviant from the norm as long as they are doing no harm and there would only be good done by more people deviating from the norm and claiming to be shorter than they are, it would show that shortness is just as cool as tallness and thus give confidence to many. All men and women should be proud of their height, whatever it is and this is because all heights are beautiful. Also it will be fun for people to claim to be taller than what they are and pinch an inch (it’s nice pinch and inch rhyme!) but people should also find it fun to trim an inch(es) off their height. More people should be proud of and brag about short/ shorter heights and if they did a whole new liberating and exciting dimension would be brought into the world of human height claims! In reality though people should all be honest about what they are but while people do brag about taller height claims just as many people should brag about shorter height claims!
In terms of dating some men will want to be taller than a partner but there must be men out there who like to be shorter than a girlfriend and there must be men who like to be shorter than a boyfriend too, there will be women who like to be shorter than their male/female partner and there must be women who like to be taller than there partner of whatever gender.

@ Nik - So I've noticed! Why can't a small percentage of the population ever pretend to be less? I can barely think of anybody who has lied in the other direction; apart from when I was at school, when we were all growing anyway, I have only met one person - a woman - who said she was shorter. I did know another one, but when she found out she was taller, she was really pleased!
