Ernest Truex's Height
5ft 2 (157.5 cm)
American actor, best remembered for roles in films such as His Girl Friday, Christmas in July, All Mine to Give, The Adventures of Marco Polo and Bachelor Mother.
"I guess I got started in those parts because of my size. I'm only five-foot-two"
"I'm taller than he is," Mrs Truex (Sylvia Field) piped, "I'm five-foot, two and a half"
"You are not," Ernest bristled. "Not in your stocking feet, you're not!"

@Rick
Yeah, despite the average height being around 5'7" at that time, many of the top actors were over 6 feet tall.

@Christian-6'5 3/8: I'd say that's generalizing. More tall people happened to have gotten famous, but there has been and always will be actors of all different heights. That said, it is ironic that there were more famous tall actors during the Golden Age, despite the average height being 2 inches shorter than today (at least up until the 1940s).

Dead short, seems about right. Rob I've sent you and Jenny a present via email, let me know when you've redeemed it so I know you got it!

thanks for that!
I wasn't even looking for Ernest's height, but came across it whilst trying to find something else and can remember his face from some early films, I think he is quite honest about being 5ft 2.

Very short for an actor back in the day. Most actors at that time were taller compared to today's actors.
Heights are barefeet estimates, derived from quotations, official websites, agency resumes, in person encounters with actors at conventions and pictures/films.
Other vital statistics like weight or shoe size measurements have been sourced from newspapers, books, resumes or social media.
