@ Christian - I've never heard of a London, a Dallas or a Rome, I must say! The Italy my brother knew was a guy, and I'm assuming Italia is the female equivalent.
I went through a phase when I was a kid of calling my toys after cities. I had a tabby cat called Utoxeter and a white one called Melbourne. The black one's name I made up, not unlike how I do now for my real cats, but it's just that little bit too daft to let loose on the internet!
Cheers Christian, and I wish you a good week ahead.

Forgot to mention, but I've also heard of Israel, Iran, Ireland, and Columbia. Never Italy, though I've seen Italia for a girl once. I've also heard people named after major cities, such as London, Sydney, Dallas, Orlando, Paris, Rome, and Charlotte to name a few.

@ Christian - I've only known that girl with the French name, but my brother knew an Italy. ππ
@ MJKoP - Great to see you back! ππ

Also, the closest to hearing someone else named "French" is the rapper French Montana, but that's only a stage name.

There's a celeb listed on here named Egypt though. But I've never heard of an Egypt within my circle.

@ Christian - I've got to admit that Jordan is the commonest out of names that are also countries. Egypt is one name I've never heard of though.
The French names Francoise, or Francois, is common enough in France though, Frances and Francis being the English equivalent. There was a little girl down my road called Francoise when I was growing up and, unsurprisingly, her Mother was French!
Have a good weekend, Christian!

@ Rob - I know John Lithgow's name as, apparently, does my phone! I'll have to check out his work to see what I've seen him in.... π

Good listing, he was 2 inches shorter than Missi Pyle in the awful TV Home Alone sequel :p

I've seen other country names for people like America, China, India and Egypt too, but never French or France. Probably the most common one though, is Jordan.

@ Rob - I've never even seen the programme. π
β If a girl was kissed by him, she'd be getting a French kiss!

It was quite funny I remember...John Lithgow is always a great actor in mostly everything I've seen him in.

Heβs exactly average in the USA!
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 7/Oct/20
That's an unusual name. Let's see if French has an unusual height.....
No - he's a thoroughly average 5ft9.25, so that's what he gets from me!

On 3rd Rock sometimes French's shoes did look thicker than average
