Is 5’10.25-10.5” possible?

Wouldn’t bat an eye If he claims 5’11”. Average guess is ridiculous, Could look taller than Penn @times!

What do u think Rob?
Editor Rob
Although sometimes almost 179 is possible in photos, everything I've seen for me puts him around 178. A strong 5ft 10 is about most I'd give him.

But we can't see Karen's footwear. Heels give a wide variety of heights, depending on the type.

He is deffo 5ft 10 given he only looks 2 inches shorter than Karen in the above picture and she would be 6ft 1 in basic heels which would make him 5ft 11 in shoes

I've met him. Very nice guy and even insisted on taking a photo with me. He's definitley at the very least a quarter inch away from 5'10". I'm a solid 5'7 and he was a solid 2" taller than me in flats.

Looks 5'10"1/2 in the above picture. I'd give him 5'10"1/4 and say that he's definitely a legit 178-179cm guy. Any claims that he's anything less than a flat 5'10" are ridiculous in my opinion.

Jut a full 5ft9 Korean who appears taller because of his typical thin hips and narrow shoulders. South Koreans might be taller than the Chinese or Japanese, but they are nowhere near the highest average heights from Europe and Africa. For the record, the tallest Asians are actually the forgotten Polynesians from Samoa and Tonga. They are genetically true forces of nature through centuries of natural selection and their immigrant/expat children certainly do not need to make "tall tales" claims about it unlike other insecure Asian ethnicities...

He has to be closer to 5'9. A man doesn't wear huge lifts like he does if he doesn't have anything to hide. Not that 5'9 is anything to be embarresed about in any way, I'd understand it if you wanted to add a few inches to your height if you was a 5'5-man, but when you are around average, what's the point? Anyways, he's always in some type of extreme footwear that could easily add a good 2-3" on it's own, and still he never looks over 5'11. 5'9.5 is the most I could believe for barefoot height.

@Hikaru: I'm not Korean but here`s a thought! Divide known Asian celebrities you know into nationalities and draw your own conclusion.
Japanese: Mr.Miyagi(God bless his soul), Harold`s father(forgot his name), Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa, Midori Ito, Christi Yamaguchi, Mirai Nagasu.
Chinese: Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, James Hong, Lisa Ling, Michelle Kwan.
Korean:John and Margaret Cho, Daniel Dae Kim, Kim Yuna, Linda Park, Michelle Wie.
Bottom line is Chinese people tend to have bigger eyes and wider nose similar to South-east asian. Koreans have smaller eyes, narrower nose, lighter skin tone. And Japanese anywhere in btwn. Of course there are alot of people from above nationalities who doesnt look like anything described hence pass for any nationality. But in my experience, Koreans looked slightly taller and bigger than any other asians. Among younger generation that is.
Radioflyer said on 30/Nov/10
As an American who was stationed in Osan (korea) for a yr, and having travelled all over Asia after the service before heading home, South Koreans are the tallest Asian period. If a Vietnamese is 6ft, he is considered shaq o Neil in his home country. If a Chinese then Kobe Briant. If a Japanese then Christopher reeve. If a south Korean, then slightly tall. I'm talking about guys younger than 35 though. Just travel these countries if you got the time and money. See for yourselves. I heard that Korean ancestors came from Sumer (ancient middle-east civilization)using the ancient silk road. Hence the difference in height comes out given the proper nutrition. And similar sounds in languages btw arab and Korean, though they look Asian now. Even the personalities are similar I think.

Asians nowadays are getting taller esp. Koreans and Chinese, if you happens to visit Asia if you only have have a height of 5-7 to 5'8 nahhh you'll be shorter than them.Well there's still short guy though with average height from 5'5 to 5'6 which is normal to asians. But with the new generations they're getting taller. You wont believe me?try to go either Korea or China, make sure you have a height taller than 5'7 to 5'8. :) by the way koreans, japanese and chinese are easy to tell from each other...

josh j thats so wrong. i was in korea last summer and iam a vietnamese born in germany. iam 6 feet and in korea the young males seems to be all like 5ft8,5ft9 not more than that, i hanged out a lot with young guys there cuz i'm still 15. so i was like 2-3 inches taller than the most of them. sure there 'd been some guys around 6ft like me, but the most are like 5ft8
Josh.J said on 12/Jun/09
i dont know where you get your info Ed but recent generation of S.Korean males are fiarly tall. im 5'10 and im regarded as 'average' in korea. the reason the average height males seem taller is because the average height of women in korea is quite short. most young men are around 5'11~6ft these days.
Ed said on 9/Jun/09
MD is almost right. The average young Korean male (18-21 years of age) is 173 cm, which translates to a little over 5'8''. Mandatory military service is required for almost all Korean males, and 173 cm is the average that was arrived at after measuring everyone who has to serve.

5'10'' is still an uncommon height for young Korean men, though obviously not as uncommon as the previous generation.

No. I'm talking about korean fobs too, MD. I have a lot of international friends as well. Korean young boyz who were born after 90's are pretty tall around 6 actaully. And the average doen't mean people are really like that. It's like even though the US average height for a man is around 5'9", most american guyz are actually taller than that.

In Harold and Kumar, Cho and Penn are the same height. In fact if anything Kal Penn could be taller since I noticed in scenes where the camera was pointed directly at them and not angled that Penn's eyeline was a little above Cho's. Dubious way of deciding however since foreheads aren't the same height but still.. there is no way John Cho has more than .5 inch over Kal Penn. 5'10" sounds about right, 5'10.5" tops

I'm not so sure about Cho and Penn. It seems that Kal has decidely poorer posture, and John's always standing as straight as he can, it seems. Maybe Kal needs to have that quarter of an inch taken off, though. He defintely isn't ever taller than Cho in pictures.

I also see at least 1.5" difference between Cho and Biggs.
Here’s another discrepancy, Kal Penn is listed 5’10.25” but in “Harold and Kumar” Cho is clearly taller.

Isnt this guy in the american pie wedding, i am 100% sure he was about an inch to inch and a hlf taller than jason biggs when both were wearing sneakers.....rob you can even check that scene whene john cho and another friends come to bigg's party before he and alysson get married and he says something like...i dont even know half the people here....you can clearly see that jason is at the very very least an inch shorter than him while both are in sneakers so how come jason is 177 and john is 178 here?
Leung said on 28/May/07
Kal Penn is one of those guys that can look short in solo scenes but when he is standing next to other people you can see that he is 5’10”ish.
Dax Wheyton said on 30/Apr/07
In "Harold and Kumar," he and Kal Penn seemed to be about the same height. But in real life photos, he's consistently about an inch/inch-and-a-half taller than Kal. This guy seems a solid 5'10" if not 5'11".
Bombay Rocker said on 14/Mar/07
If he is 5 feet 10 then theres no way jason biggs is 5 feet 9.5, more like 5 feet 8.5 or even 5 feet 8 but i know thats not correct so john is more like 5 feet 11 or even 5 feet 11.5
