American actor and comedian best remembered for roles in movies like It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming and The Loved One. On TV he appeared in Davis Rules, Mork & Mindy and his show The Jonathan Winters Show. In 1968 he said I'm 5 feet 11 ½, and weigh 190 pounds"

On Carson he was taller and a little heavier set than Ed McMahon who was 6’3”-6’4”. Ed said he had recently lost 32 lbs and weighed 196. Winters said he had lost 20 lbs and was down to 275. If I could, I would guess 6’4”, as he appeared taller than Ed and not much overweight. 275 lbs. on a 5’10” frame would look much heavier than he appeared

A good 5’10” in It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World but I got the impression that the older Milton Berle had a better shot at 5’10.25”.

In It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Winters's character is described at least twice as "big." Which is odd as, at 5 foot 10, he wasn't that big. But he pulls off the impression of being big because he has a burly physique and loud, boorish, masculine personality.

I guess edged out in that photo by a slouching Phil Silvers indicates more 5'10".

Any chance he could have been near 5'11"?

on Mork & Mindy you could argue he looked over 5ft 10.

Thanks. Looks right with Silvers, but this is a guy who gave a much bigger impression on screen by himself and most people would think of him as a big guy I'm sure.
