For some reason a guy I know made a joke about him being small, but if he really is 181 to 182cm tall then he really isn't small at all (and the guy that made that joke is like several inches shorter than him too).
RickHavoc said on 12/Feb/22
I always thought he's like at least 6'3. Watching his specials, his body shape imo somehow just looks like that of a taller person.
MaskDeMasque said on 25/Jun/21
Maybe due to his weight or proportions I dunno but this dude looks less than 5'11.5 when you see him by himself but yea 5'11.5 is fair, he had 4 inches on 5'7.5 Broderick in his show.
JustJoey said on 3/May/21
Doesn’t look tall.

Louis CK is confusing to me because sometimes he looks 6ft and other times he looks 5ft10.5 so I'm guessing he's just got bad posture, I'd give him 5ft11 now though as I think he might have lost height by now, might have been 5ft11.5 prime though

@Arthur
Hey Arthur, I was making a hypothetical. I was trying to guess what he would weigh if he had healthier body fat levels. He's obviously nowhere near 15-20% body fat. I'd say he's closer to 30%.
Arthur! said on 13/Apr/20
@Animus
There's absolutely no way CK only has 15% fat. Make it at least 20%. As for his height, there's no denying he is at least 5'11, but keep in mind he wears boots nearly all the time. I saw him live last summer from the second row and he didn't suggest a tall presence as some of you point (he happened not to wear boots that day, given it was a hot july evening). I wouldn't discount 181 cm at all actually, but I wouldn't discount 182 cm either, even though that's the most I'd go for him.
Animus said on 11/Apr/20
I'm watching his new special, Sincerely, and when the frame cuts at his thigh so his torso is mainly in view, you'd swear he was at least 6'2. In shots where his whole body is rendered he looks, proportionally, 182-183cm. That gestalt is of course consistent with being 5'11½. If I was forced to adjust Rob's current appraisal of his height either upwards or downwards, I'd do the former; there's a greater chance he's 5'11¾ than 5'11¼, in my view.
Animus said on 10/Jul/19
@Ian C
That's an interesting idea. I'd say that having above-average testosterone levels along with a fairly extroverted personality would be beneficial for a comedian. And of course strength and size correlate with testosterone levels, so via that route you might expect to see a somewhat larger proportion of decently fit and strong persons among comedians than in the general population.
In Louis' case you got a guy who is nearly 2" taller than the average American man and who weighs (or at least did) 242 lbs. If Louis had, say, 15% body fat, I'd guesstimate his weight being 190-195 lbs, which I'd definitely say would indicate above-average strength and size. So, CK is a pretty big guy, even if you shrink his body fat down to a healthier amount. What really sets him apart from average people, though, apart from being hilariously funny and rather intelligent, is his mental toughness and willingness to take an outsider's perspective and standing his ground against opposition when doing so. I think that's separate from his physical characteristics, and something you can develop irrespective of stature.

For Louis C K, 5' 11" seems right, but seemed to have disappeared.
Ian C. said on 12/Apr/18
Notice how many comedians, like Mr. CK here, look physically strong. Maybe because you have to be pretty tough to withstand the stress of trying to be funny and frequently failing. You have to project confidence to be funny, and strong people have a natural confidence that you can't fake.

He didn't look like he edged out 5'10" Stephen Colbert on the Late Night. I'd say he's probably closer to 5'11" out of bed.
If he's 5'11 out of bed then he's 5'10 at night, which isn't possible. He might be 5'11 at night though. Watch out for Colbert, he is a lift wearer.

I think 5'11.5" is right on the money for C.K. He doesn't look that much taller than 5'11" guys, but he can look close to 6' and stacks up well to taller guys.

I honestly think he's a geniune 6 footer with bad posture, the people saying he's 5'10 range seem off to me. He looks noticeably tall on his show and I also saw him in person once, I'd be very surprised if he was anything under 182 cm IMO.
Surprised said on 1/Jul/16
I've seen a lot of Louis over the last twenty years or so. I never pegged him under 6'1, and thought he was more like 6'2. I always see him next to Conan and Andy and these are tall men, and I never think of him as not being a big and tall guy. Surprised if he says he's only 6 foot even but still gives off a big guy presence.
Pete6'0.5 said on 23/Mar/16
Rob, he claims 6 foot here:
Click Here at 02:43:35 "I'm 6 foot." as he's just weighted himself at 242 pounds:)

ok thanks, I will mention it at the top of the page!

I saw him in person on the street in Brooklyn. I'm 6' and he looked the same height as me.

Louis has said in interviews that he boxes, and in a comedy special that he regularly runs on the treadmill, he's a heavy set guy because he eats a lot
WAF said on 19/Aug/15
I believe that he was once 240 pounds. My father is 6'0" and he once weighed 240 pounds, and while he was overweight, he didn't look that bad. It depends on your build - how broad your shoulders and how thick your arms and legs are. Some guys are just naturally bigger than others. At 5'10" Mike Tyson was naturally around 215-220 pounds when he was in shape without lifting weights. After his boxing career he was even 380 pounds at one point. No man without a big build at 5'10" could weight that much. He's now 240 pounds and he looks normal and well. He's just big.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 24/Jun/15
Taller than Alec Baldwin in Blue Jasmine.
JD184 said on 7/Jun/15
I'd say he's 6'0 with poor posture. He appears to have 2" on Jerry Seinfeld in Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
MD said on 1/Jun/15
I could believe 240lbs. Not everyone carries their weight the same weigh, and he doesn't necessarily carry all of it in his gut. He just a pretty generally wide guy with thick limbss. Some heavy guys have really spindly arms and legs, he's just not one of them.
Sam said on 29/May/15
Definitely he's a paunchy guy but I'd be surprised if he weighed 240 lbs, I think he'd look more chubby overall, I'd think he's more in the 210 lb range.
MrTBlack said on 28/May/15
He's a solid 5'11" and in his skit he says he weighs "240lbs". He more overweight than Homer Simpson who's 6'0" and 239lbs!

Solid 182cm. He has bad posture, but there's no way Louis is shorter than 5'11

@tom: That's Bill Burr on the far right, think he's near 5'11, looks about the same as Rogen, but has always been listed 5'10 most places.

Pretty good picture here (
Click Here) of Louis with Seth Rogen and a few other guys. He's comfortably the listed height. Judging somebody's height in a movie is never solid, the camera manipulates perception to make characters look taller/smaller than others. Look at Tom Cruise for God's sake.
Sam said on 20/Oct/14
In American Hustle, when Bradley Cooper maniacally grabs CK's character and forces him to leave the room, it's hard to tell, but I'd say Cooper looks a solid inch over him.

@Anon Does he?? In Blue Jasmine I thought he looked 5'10 tops.

im actually shocked at this listing. I dunno why by he always gives a really tall presence and has i think quite a tall frame/proportions, long arms, broad shoulders, long legs. If i didnt see this site i would guessed 6'2. crazy.
Tod said on 2/Oct/14
I would say he was a legit 6 footer back in in the 90s

There's one shot farther down the page w/ Gaffigan and CK and the angle is probably disadvantageous to CK but he definitely seems a bit shorter.

Yeah, Carlin's great, his 60s-70s stuff is a bit outdated, not as good as Pryor was at the time, but you can't go wrong with any album, stand-up special, or book/book-on-tape by him from the 80s onward. In terms of overall career accomplishment, I think Carlin is the greatest comedian. My favorite single stand-up special though is Chris Rock's Bigger and Blacker, so funny.
Sam said on 17/Sep/14
At any height, he's one of my three favorite stand-up comics, alongside George Carlin and CK's friend, Chris Rock, of course Pryor, Seinfeld, Murphy, Rickles and the great Robin Williams are also near the top.
Editor Rob
I've watched/listened to a lot of Carlin and enjoyed him a lot.

Quite surprised by this as I remember thinking he looked quite tall in his 'comedians in cars getting coffee' episode compared to Seinfeld. Might be worth a watch as there's a noticeable difference between the two, more than half an inch.
cole said on 12/Sep/14
FINALLY! Think he can look 5'11 flat a lot, certainly no taller than 5'11.5.
lelman said on 12/Sep/14
Cheers for the addition, Rob. I dunno Arch, his height is hard to pinpoint, like I said before seeing that sketch he looked like a classic 5'10 guy to me. In some photos he looks basically eye to eye with rock, other times he looks 2 inches taller. Sometimes he looks barely 5'10, others he can look legit 6'0.
I would claim lifts, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to wear lifts. Probably got bad posture.
I think somewhere between 5'10" and 6'0" is definitely sensible for him. Exactly where in that boundary he falls is beyond me.
MrTBlack said on 12/Sep/14
5'11" flat.
Arch Stanton said on 12/Sep/14
In some of Lelmans photos I agree he can look 182 but he really didn't look it in Blue Jasmine.
Arch Stanton said on 12/Sep/14
I mean look
Click Here he's only fractionally taller than Rob Lowe, he doesn't look 182 there. I think you'd be on the money with 5'10.5".
Arch Stanton said on 12/Sep/14
Good addition Rob but can you add and known for roles in films such as Blue Jasmine, American Hustle and The Invention of Lying? Honestly I thought he was shorter than this. With 5'5" listed Sally Hawkins in Blue Jasmine he looked like this
Click Here I though he was more 5ft 10 range. Are you sure he really looks 182? I couldn't see it but he is a heavy built guy so can give a stockier impression. I do think that the 5'11.5" could be a shoe measurement though. I like him, he has that sort of quality Philip Seymour Hoffman had, I think he has a lot of potential as an actor.
