@ Arch Stanton - Hi Arch! Well, to have been born in 1948, everyone who was anyone from that era will have been hanging out with the 'in crowd'! I met quite a few friends of theirs around 1980, when I started going out and meeting people, including guys who had been roadies for Led Zeppelin and other big bands. I knew quite a few who were part of Lemmy's crowd, down the Portobello Road, London, an area I became fairly familiar with myself in 1982.
It's going back a bit now, but I recall Lindsey's first appearance on Top of the Pops, in 1972. Even though I was only 11, I could tell that the young, blonde singer/songwriter was a shortie. In my magazines, she was chalked up as either 4ft11 or 5ft, which will have been the height of the taller kids in my class.
Have a great weekend, Arch! XXX

The first British lady to do it Sandy.... She was very much part of the Swinging London scene in the late 60s and early 70s I believe.

Ah! It's the late Lynsey de Paul, the talented little singer/song writer and the first lady to reach number one with a self-penned song. She represented England in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest with Mike Moran, achieving second place.
Lynsey was romantically linked with many stars including Sean Connery, Dudley Moore, James Coburn, Roy Wood, Ringo Starr and George Best, but she never married. I thought Roy Wood was a giant when I saw him pictured with Lynsey, but he isn't anything over average!
Lynsey was an active campaigner against domestic violence and claimed that fame brought her a lot of misery. I remember her songs right back to 1972, and they bring back happy memories for me and millions of others. ππΆ
Sadly, Lynsey died from a brain haemorrhage, aged 66. π’
