@Rob. I've found something in her autobiography. In the first photo section there's a scan of her Irish American citizenship. Can you adjust the listing and add the following to the top. In her 1946 certificate of naturalization registering dual citizenship for the US and Ireland she wrote down 5 ft 7 and a half inches for her height and 125 pounds for her weight". This does actually make sense with John Wayne being slightly under 6'4" and with Joel McCrea. I did think of late she might have been a Lauren Bacall listing, they looked the same height on screen I thought. Can look a legit 5'8 but just shy. I think that's an honest claim, hope that helps, now I'm outta here ;-).
Editor Rob
that is a good find, I will mention it at the top.

Gene Tierney, Hedy Lamarr, Ava Gardner, Liz Taylor, Jean Simmons and
Vivien Leigh were all enchantingly beautiful and viable candidates though for the 40s and 50s. In the 60s, Senta Berger, Ursula Andress and Faye Dunaway all came close!

"Celebheights read in a 1991 mercury news article Maureen stating her height: "I'm 5-foot-8; he (Wayne) was 6-foot-4". "
Celebheights must have been very clever to have read a news article all by itself!!

Incredibly beautiful woman IMO in her prime, wonderful accent too, arguably the most attractive in Hollywood in that period facially, although Paulette Goddard, Jean Simmons and a few others were in a similar league.

Gorgeous woman. She looked tall, around 1`73. Still alive. ItΒ΄s far from being important but I like to see that people from the golden Hollywood years are still around.

Did look about 8 inches shorter than the Duke in The Quiet Man.

Maureen O'Hara appeared slightly shorter than Lucille Ball in Dance, Girl, Dance from 1940. In this scene, Lucille Ball is wearing 2 1/2" to 3" heels and O'Hara is barefoot. Ball looks at least 3" taller standing side by side. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIoHK9JRRBY
Notice how broad Lucille Ball's shoulders are.

Yeah she's looking 5'10" ish in fairly low heels opposite John Payne who was listed at 6'2".

Looks pretty tall in Miracle on 34th Street. One of the most gorgeous film stars ever in my opinion.

Yeah she looked pretty tall next to Walter Pidgeon in How Green was My Valley. Beautiful gal.

I was kind of shcoked to see that she was 5'8. I always figured around 5'6 at most. I agree with supes78, she was a stunning woman. I always thought she was the most beautiful actress in the movies. She was doing movies before everyone was fake and all the plastic surgery.

I just got through seeing the 1945 classic "the Spanish Main" on TCM. I was surprised to see how short she looked when compared to Paul Henreid who is listed as 6'3". She has always looked like a solid 5'8" but now I think she might have been slightly below this. Maybe she upped her height to make up for the shorter Hollywood men. Still, she was an amazingly stunning woman.

I have a dvd of "Dance Girl Dance" (1940) with Maureen O'Hara and Lucille Ball. There is a terrific fight scene between the two women in this flick, which was an early feminist classic. Lucille Ball at 5'-7 1/2" - is slightly taller in most of their scenes together. In a couple of scenes where Lucy is wearing 3" heels, and O'Hara is in ballet slippers or bare-foot, the height difference is over 3". I estimated O'Hara to be about 5'-7" max.

Sure-I have Rio Grande, The Quiet Man, etc. w/ her. She's a good sized star, esp for that day and age.
