@ Nik - This is a tricky one - lying about weight! It is trickier and more damaging than lying about height because weight can be changed whereas height can't and now that body image is so important to youngsters, they are going about changing their weight while not being armed with the necessary information.
It is horrifying to think what sort of damage can be done to their growing and developing bodies. In girls, it can ruin their fertility in years to come and the very least that gets done to a young body when it is starved of the correct nutrients is that it really does stunt their growth. If this was rubbed in more, and also that it ruins their hair, their skin and at worst, their vital organs, perhaps more help would be sought by these kids, their friends, parents, teachers and relatives.
Compared to how things were in the 70's and 80's say, anorexia is now a well known illness and very much more in the public eye than it used to be, which is good of course, but prevention is so much better than cure, and if looks-conscious youngsters are warned about how detrimental starving your body can be to your looks, that is more likely to put them off than by saying, "you'll end up with brittle bones one day!"
Youngsters, let's face it, don't think about problems connected with the advancing years, which, to them, are a lifetime away, but if they fear that their hair, teeth, nails, skin and so on will suffer, then I'm sure that extreme dieting will be shown as a less glamorous and desirable thing to do.

@ Sandy Cowell - Hi!

You couldn't be more right! Lying does our growing and developing youngsters no favours because it makes them dissatisfied with how nature made them because so many people want to live up to the inflated or deflated lies that there are flying about. Instead people should be honest about being whatever height or weight they are and society should be accepting of all heights and weights. The lies give a false representation and preference of how people are, which causes mental trauma to people and physical trauma to people, physical trauma is caused particularly to people who are losing too much weight because they are trying to live up to being of a certain weight on the back of these lies, and this is not a good idea as everyone needs to know the truth about what is the right healthy weight for themselves from proven reliable sources. I would say the same as I have said above to people who are looking to gain weight due to people who over quote what weight they are, don't listen to what people say they are are and instead make your decision on what is the right weight to be for yourself based on information from proven reliable sources.

Cheers!

@ Nik - I absolutely agree! To look at Melissa, you'd think, "Normal, slim girl!"
As there is so much lying going on in the celebrity world, and everywhere else too, for that matter, it isn't easy to judge what normal looks like any more! I'd welcome more honesty like this, for the sakes of all today's growing and developing youngsters! πŸ˜‡

@ Sandy Cowell - Hi!

Melissa looks a stick on 5'2" to me Sandy and I too admire her honesty over her weight, more people should do this and everyone should be open and honest about their height and weight. I think she is honest over height too!
I hope you have a great weekend, and their are plenty of soaps to look forward to tonight!

Cheers!

I KNEW there had been another Lucy Beale! I mean, sometimes we have to face facts and accept that if we wish to continue enjoying a character, the soaps have to search for a looky-likey to take over! It's not the case in life but - hey... this is soapland!
When 5ft2 Melissa Suffield here was replaced by Hetty Bywater, however, there was a noticeable height difference of a good 4"! Oh well, in this case we'll have to put it down to an exceptionally late and unlikely growth spurt!

Melissa gets 5ft2 and a great deal of respect for being so open about her weight! 9st3 can be considered a little on the heavy side for 5ft2, but it is still within the healthy range and she looks fine to me!
