How tall is vitor belfort. He's listed as 6'0, and De la hoya looks about 1-1.5 inches shorter than him. Not sure about shoes though

I’ve looked at even more pics of Oscar & I take back my 177/178 cm (5 ft 9.75 / 5 ft 10) estimation. However, I still believe that Oscar (esp when comparing with the fraction shorter Sugar Ray Leonard & the slightly taller Mike Tyson) is slightly taller than a flat 5 ft 9 (175cm). Oscar always looked a half inch taller than Sugar Ray (even when Ray wasn’t that old & prob hadn’t shrunk at all), so my MOST ACCURATE ESTIMATE for Oscar is 176 cm i.e. 5 ft 9-and-a-quarter inches tall.
I’ve looked at even more pics of Oscar & I take back my 177/178 cm (5 ft 9.75 / 5 ft 10) estimation. Oscar is NOT 5'9", he's 5'10". I know this because I have met him in person back in 2007. Bernard Hopkins is 6'1". Ray Leonard is 5'9", and Julio Cesar Chavez is 5'7".

Lived in same condo building with Bernard Hopkins in Philly and have had several conversations with him. I'm 5'10" and I would say he is about 5'11.5" to 6.0". He looks easily 3" taller than his business partner De La Hoya. I think 5'9" is correct for DLH.

If mayweather is a strong 5'7 this is spot on. Boxing rec has 179cm believe it or not. You have to conclude this height when standing next to so many fighters in that division billed under his height but seem only slightly shorter.

Oscar was billed as a near 6 footer during the Olympics in 1992. Always thought he was at least 5-10. My sister has a picture of him from 1998. She's tiny at 5-0 and was wearing a 2 inch heel and De La Hoya was in a 1 inch dress shoe. He was a head taller then her so I would guess he's 5-9.5 and an inch taller at 5-10.5 in his dress shoes he had on. So this is a good estimate you have.

Rob, you should check out david Lemieux. He's 177 cm according to some sites, but he's listed 175 cm on Golden Boy Promotions website. Sometimes he can look even shorter next to other boxers or next to De La Hoya.

All I can say is that, if De La Hoya is around 176 cm tall, then arch rival Felix Trinidad must be around 179 cm (5ft 10.5 inches). Rob, can you please do an entry on either Trinidad (the greatest Puerto Rican fighter of all time) or Bernard Hopkins (the oldest world champ of all time!). To do an entry on Hopkins (who I think is around 183/184 cm tall) would be better, I think, as he completely outclassed Trinidad when they actually fought.

My brother who is 5-4.75 in the afternoon ran into Pacquiao and his family at Santa Monica beach. Pacman had my brother by about an 1.5 inches in their photo together. He was in trainers while my brother wore slippers. Angle and posture was slightly in Pacquiao's favor. Also sand beach can be tricky as it is not very level. Having said all that I think he is a little taller than 5-5. I'd pin him around 5-5.5 maybe 5-5.25 and no shorter, no taller

Adrien Broner at 5'5 would make Daniel Ponce de Leon about 5'3. That sounds like a stretch. Supposedly Broner was measured at 5'6.5, although who knows how accurate those are. Personally, I can't see Oscar much lower than 5'9.5.

I have followed and participated in boxing for the past 20 years. In boxing, it is the normal to add 1-2 inches, or more on your height. Georeg Foreman was never 6'4" ....maybe more like 6'2" and de la hoya was never 5'10" ...maybe 5'8" at best. I have met both fighters several times and was not surprised that they did not match the listed height/hype.

this is a good opportunity to mention a few words about boxers height. in boxing, weight is critical. height is somewhat arbitrary. common to see guys have height rounded up to the nearest inch. de la hoya is an honest 5-9, maybe a shade over. so for him to be listed at 5-10 in some fights is not unusual.

Hey guys, I just found some old fight footage of Hopkins and Oscar from 2004 and Im beginning to believe that 5'9 for Oscar is right on the money. Right at the start of the match they face eachother and Hopkins eyes are in line with the top of Oscar's head. That would mean around a 4 inch gap between them. Which puts Delahoya at 5'9. What's funny is, the tale of the tape prefight, listed Hopkins at 6'1 which we can assume is true. (He looks 1 inch taller than Calzaghe in their weigh-in photos, who Rob lists at 6'0). Yet amazingly Delahoya is listed at 5'10.5 in prefight stats. I think his height was just overestimated his entire career...

I just don't see the point of attacking each other, and that goes either way. One can fine discuss Justin Timberlake's height (just an example) without getting personal. No offense to anyone, but if someone starts a personal attacks, there's no need to hang on, that's just adds fuels to their fire and keeps us away from discussing what this site is about, what is should be about and what Rob probably meant it to be about - celebrity height. It's just one of the downsides of having a forum without user registration I guess, although I fully understands Robs of philosophy of not having it. Just a thought.

Editor Rob everybody has estimates others think are plain wrong. I don't mind, I think there's photos of everyone where they could look smaller than they are. Viper is usually more passive, I think if he goes back to those ways then there's no problems. Everybody can estimate, nobody can say a height is 100% because none of us ever measured a celebrity.

The top of your hair gets you over 5'9" but you need hair to reach 5'9". Where your head ends would seem more like 5'8.5" or 5'8.75" max unless the shot is off slightly. Your eye level is just at about 5'4" as well suggesting your 5'8.5" max not including extra hair.

You should check into the height of randy couture. He is listed at between 6'1" and 6'2" and there is a video were he's standing next to de la hoya and looks about he same size...maybe shorter. I think a lot of MMA fighters inflate their height.

I also stood next to Oscar for about a couple of hours while he was promoting his fight against Mayweather. I had plenty of time to compare his height to mine in many angles.
