Rob, who would you say was taller at peak, Davis or Jack Watson?
It could have been camera angles or Watson’s superb posture but in scenes in The Hill, I thought Watson seemed to have a slight edge on Davis.

Jack might have slight edge

Good chance Jackson was 6ft2¼ and Ossie maybe 6ft1½-1¾ in Jungle Fever. Peak would have been the same

Yeah he looked shorter than Samuel L. in Jungle Fever but standing tall near Wesley Snipes, I thought Davis could still look right near 6'2".

He looked shorter than Jackson in Jungle Fever but had obviously lost some height.

It could have been his peak height, in the 60's he might have looked a little over 6ft 2. I remember he played "Jungle Fever" in 1991 with Samuel L. Jackson but he seemed to be definitely a shorter there than Samuel because he was 73 years old and Sam was only 42. I think they both might have had the same peak height (1/4 inch over 6ft 2). Rob, how tall was he in "Jungle Fever"?

Would need to see the film again

I don’t think anyone could argue with a 6’2.25” listing for Davis. After watching The Hill, I concluded Davis was just a hair taller than Sean Connery, and I think Davis looked taller than Walter Matthau in Grumpy Old Men, even when taking Matthau’s slouchy posture into consideration. However, I reckon Matthau had shrunk more than Davis by the time of Grumpy Old Men.

Thanks for adding, he could've been anywhere from 6'2"-6'3", he edged out Sean Connery in The Hill.

Always thought 6’3” was too high.

Rob, is it safe to say he probably wasn’t quite this when he did Grumpy Old Men, Jungle Fever and Do The Right Thing?
Editor Rob
probably lost a bit, but I don't think he had big height losses during his latter couple of decades.

The only film I'm well acquainted with of those above is the hilarious 'Grumpy Old Men', starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, who squabble over Ann-Margret and get called 'youngers' by Burgess Meredith, which is very funny, as they're anything but! Then, of course, there's the late Ossie, who simply towers over Burgess, so much so that I have no hesitation in giving the late actor 6ft2.25.
😁👍
RIP Ossie 🕯️XXX
