I have the same shoes stiller wore in that movie. they give like 1/4". probably why Owen looked taller than normal by comparison.

I'd say he's a little closer to 5-11 than 5-10. In Starsky and Hutch he looked between 4 and 5 inches taller than Ben Stiller.

I just finished watching a life aquatic with steve zissou and I was curious to find out bill murrays height because he looked pretty tall in that flick. My guess is that Woody is 5'9" - 5'9.5" and Owen is 5'11" - 5'11.5"

Glenn your wrong, look at Owen Wilson next to Ben Stiller. Ben Stiller is barely 5'7", there is no way Owen is 4 inches taller than him, maybe 2 and a half to three at the most

well i met him at you me and dupree premier with my brother and a baby strapped to my front and we won entree to see the premier which was awesome ! He definately is taller than me and im 5-7,i think hes 5,11 and georgeous too.Another highlight of my life is when on national radio 1 in england he called me his soul mate!!!!!!!!after my questions were read out to him about his tatoo and i asked if he would make a cd of his voice cos i could listen to his voice forever. I wish i could be his soulmate for real everyone needs one xx

I thought he was 5'9". In 'I Spy'Eddie describes him as 5ft 9 when he is getting mock interrogated, but also I've seen him in an English newspaper quoted again at 5ft 9.

You cant go on movies though because they wear lifts and the camera angles could be playing tricks. Jessica Simspon looked pretty tall in dukes of hazzards but she's tiny irl. Anyway after looking at some movie premier pics with Jackie and Wilson I would say 5'10 is fair, he had a good inch or more on him.

He's got one of those lean builds that gives off the impression that he's taller. i would have guessed he was 6' before viewing this. Now I would probably have to guess he is 5'10.5" cuz he looks alot bigger than stiller who is 5'7 I think.

Incidently, a mate of mine has starsky & hutch on dvd, and we were watching it last night (3rd time im watching it). This was the first time I was paying close attention to the height difference between Wilson and Stiller, and its funny :(N) that you can possibly consider there being only 2 inches between Stiller and Wilson.
Wilson's body is so much bigger and wider than Stiller's, and he looks way taller than Stiller even with his hair adding him an extra 3-4cm.
Im starting to think if Owen Wilson is only 5'10", Stiller may be even 5'5.5" which may not be so far off the mark since he did once appear very similar in height to dustin hoffman who was barefoot on the grass in "Meet the fockers".

Just a comment to Mike Rotch the "height expert" I work in the film business and we use apple boxes and build ups to get people at the height we want them to be....when we spend millions on making movies, we control everything, including what their stature is relative to the camera...and as for the comment by sweetchild about her knowledge of whether or not OW wears lifts, lifts are inside shoes or special shoes are made with them inside, so they are invisible...you people need to get over this, what? are you a bunch of napoleans? lol

Second. You seem like really great at mesuring from what i've read on this page Rob; but the fact is that normal shoes can boost a man as much as 4-5cm or just 0.5cm. So what I mean is that if Jackie Chan is 179cm as you mentioned (which I dont know, he looks tall for an asian man), he could have 0.5cm shoes and Owen could have as much as 5cm ordinary shoes in that particular movie in question and that would make Owen taller. So assuming just becuase he looks taller and not considering the foot wear would make an inaccurate calculation, and what Owen says/not says about Woody Harrelsons shoes is true, one is not born with elevator shoes. You see?

Right on the money scott - though I wouldnt agree with the '5'10"+ actors dont lie about their height.." I would put that up to 6'1" from there on i dont think there are a great deal who lie about it

I think unfortunately the comments below contradicting this height are circumstantial and spurious. Wilson is making no apologies for his height and is clearly comfortable with it.

The director made no attempt to compensate that VV is substantially taller [even making a dialogue reference to his height]. In some scenes Owen was barefoot vs Vaughn in shoes and in others wearing loafers and he is irrefutably this height.
My conclusion is that if an actor is 5'10+ they probably don't lie about their height as it's not ever really been a negative issue for them.
Bankable, leading actors under this height [and with an horrible ego] feel it neccessary to propogate all kinds of nonsense [Cruise, Stallone etc] that keeps this site alive ;)

Exceptions would be Friends where highly focussed male competition is involved [and in such circumstances an added cm to their press release height can make all the difference to their happiness and perceived self worth]

Saw meet the Fockers yesterday. In the final wedding scene, Owen Wilson is in a pair of sandals and Ben Stiller is probably wearing lifts. When they are standing next to each other, Owen seems to be just an inch taller than Ben. Considering Ben is 5'8" with lifts that would put Owen at 5'9".

How do explain his looking about half an inch taller than Eddie Murphy, who has been an unquestioned 5'10" throughout his career? I was say Owen is solidly 5'10 1/2", although he slouches a little bit and rounds his height up to 5'11".

Owen actually looks a bit taller (considering the camera angle and distance), but check out his proportions compared to Willem's - size of his head and torso, arms, neck and shoulders. Either Willem has gigantic head and long neck for his size, or Owen has lifts in his shoes (and he for sure does). Just look where's Owen's his belt!

Ahhh yes people are finally starting to realise Owen aint that tall. At least no where near 5'11". I was doing some logic. If a 5'11" guy is supposed to be 1 inch shorter than Duchovony who we all know is about 6'0", and looks really tall on screen, then a 5'11" guy should look tall on screen to, makes sense? So why is it Owen Wilson never looks tall on screen even next to short Ice Cube in the first Anacondas and in all his movies with Jackie Chan he looks perhaps an inch taller. Owen is a pretty skinny fella, so it can't be his build. It must be the next best thing. Maybe Owen is only 5'9" or possibly 5'9 1/2", i don't think he is taller than this, he sure as hell doesn't look it in any of his movies except for Starsky and Hutch and he was next to Ben Stiller; a confirmed 5'6" er. This height for Owen is accurate, Jackie Chan looks a solid 5'8.5" (174 cm) and Owen does looks at best, to be 2 inches taller than Jackie. Also, 1.5 inches between Luke and Owen looks right as well, Luke looks dead on 6'0" even.
