Lean but sturdy, well-built 6ft10. Broad shouldered and has excellent posture. Not stooped over and almost ashamed of his height. 233lbs makes sense.

@Rob you need more baseball players listed. They have lots of variation in roster listings.

Sotiris Gravas post had suggested that Randy could be a weak 6'10, should be 6'9 1/2 rounded up 6'10. Not as tall as i previously thought a full 6'10.

Would've been a more successful baseball player had he been at least 5 inches shorter. Being 6'10" is a huge disadvantage in most sports.
Shane said on 29/Aug/18
Baseball heights are often way off and at least shoe heights or boosted even higher but I bet Randy Johnson was at or close to a legit 6'10" barefoot.
Micky said on 6/May/18
Randy Johnson is about 6'10". Derek Jeter is 6'2".
Junior said on 16/Aug/17
Exactly what he claim it. Very tall and lanky, peak weight would be around 225 pounds.

A'mare even got upgraded to 6'11 while playing in New York. Supposedly he was doing yoga and other stretches for his back, but I have a hard time buying growing an inch in your late twenties.
Crazy to think that Randy Johnson could be listed at 7' if he were in the NBA...
Arby said on 13/May/17
This guy really is what he's listed maybe at worst 6'9 1/2". Coincidentally, he's taller than Amare Stoudemire who is listed at 6'10 as well
Arby said on 16/Mar/17
Met him several times and still see him around often. he's definitely 6'9-6'10

1990 Donruss card lists Johnson at 6' 10". Career Highlights, Tallest player in the history of baseball. That record has since been broken.

They made the fan his own baseball card, and he listed himself as 6'3".

PatB is an idiot. Who in the world ever said John Wayne was a pretty man? Your argument is as stupid as Danny Davito being Peoples most beautiful peaple because he is extra short.
the carl said on 14/Dec/11
definitely 6-10. dude is huge and gangly. saw him once in phoenix walking into a restaurant, i thought he was 7 ft at a glance. he's as tall or taller than most NBA forwards.

Then there are those of us tall women,(6'1") that believe Randy is handsome, and would rather not have you 'shortys' ask for a dance.

Jeter has a lanky build which can make him look tall for sure, no clue on his real height though.
Mathew said on 13/Jul/11
Yeah, it turns out Derek Jeter isn't a legitimate 6'3". Here he is with the 6'3" fan who caught his 3000th hit:

Jeter: 6'2"
A-Rod: 6'1"
Sabathia: 6'5" max
Randy Johnson: 6'10"

lol at Clooney being a "litty itty bitty guy". He's like 5'11!
T said on 31/May/11
@PatB u should write those comments on the general height page i think the reaction would be interesting
PatB said on 30/May/11
Randy Johnson is very tall and very ugly. That's not a coincidence. Tall people are not as handsome or as pretty as shorter people. In physical antropology this is termed allomorphism. Some small guys are neotenic too - meaning they have juvenile features. Look at Richard Keil or any other pituitary giant, they have massive (and unattractive jaws) whereas small men have delicate almost feminine features. It's just much easier to be photogenic if you are a little itty bitty guy like George Clooney or Tom Cruise. Clooney looks great in the close ups but when the camera draws back it is revealed that everyone else around him is larger. That's why Hollywood has long had a series of tiny but very handsome leading men - starting with Alan Ladd and including more recently Robert Redford.
You can see this in animals too. My cousin has a Great Dane. These dogs have big skulls with large brow ridges. I have a tiny King Charles Spaniel - he looks like a puppy - cute as hell. He has a baby face. He is neotenous.
The rare exception to these rules would be the young John Wayne - a pretty man of 6'4" with delicate features. Most big guys have had too much growth hormone and testosterone in puberty. They are too masculine looking to be appropriate for Hollywood.
BTW pitchers are usually the tallest guy on the team. Ruth at around 6'2" was a pitcher. Today most pitchers are lanky guys around 6'4". Being tall hurts when you are in the batter's box - too big a strike zone.

Maybe Jeter 189 cm to A Rod 186 cm?
jtm said on 24/Apr/11
that is correct viper.
Viper said on 23/Apr/11
Jeter is 6-2, A-rod 6-1 range.

I was looking up at him by 4", he's really tall.
Mathew said on 21/Apr/11
Johnson is one of the baseball players whose listed height looks about right. There are a lot of inaccurate baseball heights. For example, C.C. Sabathia is NOT 6'7" the way he's listed. He's more like 6'5" range. Derek Jeter who is around his listed 6'3" (if he's under, it's not by much) is around 1.5" taller than similarly 6'3" listed listed A-Rod. Many more examples too.

I've had a conversation with him about it in 2004...he is 6'10 barefoot...this is his real height its been reported the same since he was drafted, at least until age shrinks him an inch or 2.

Randy Johnson gave me his autograph last season and I was standing on a curb looking him straight in the eye. I'm 6'4" and curbs are usually about 5-6" so he is a solid 6'9" if not 6'10"
Derek said on 26/Aug/06
i always thought unit was a solid 6'10" but when i saw 6'8" richie sexson two nights ago playing against the yankees, i'm starting to wonder if randy is only 6'8".

Viper652 said on 24/Nov/05
Most baseball heights are fudged, as much as 4 inches even. But Randy is a solid 6-10, a rare exception.
Mr. R said on 23/Nov/05
Actually, somewhere I saw someone give his "real height" as 6-8. I am not sure where I saw that - somewhere on the net!
Mr. Awesome said on 23/Nov/05
Johnson is definitely 6'10''...he's always been listed at this height, even as far back as his scouting report when he was drafted.
starwars23 said on 23/Nov/05
yeah I would say 6'10" is correct I remember he was on letterman and when they shook handsletterman was up on the step which probably gave him 6 inches and randy was still taller and letterman is a tall guy at 6'2"
