So it was The Keizer Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson who stepped into David Essex’s shoes to play the Artillery Man in the live version of Jeff Wayne’s ‘The War of the Worlds’! I thought he filled the role with great gusto. All the players were inspiring, and I had a particular soft spot for Will Stapleton, who played the Voice of Humanity.
I shall go for 5ft10.25, so just a quarter inch taller than David Essex, if I remember rightly.

Great example of a strong 5'9.75 to flat 5'10 type of lad. I'd go with 177 cm.

Rob, I have learnt that twitter displays the time of it's headquarters for every tweet, which is based on San Franscisco, California. London is 8 hours ahead, so the 4.29 am would be a 12.29 pm afternoon time in Britain. He also has another tweet made during The Voice UK live sessions, the time displaying is 1:44 pm, adding 8 hours would be 9:44 pm which is a time The Voice Live was on air, so it makes sense. Does this help at all?
I believe he got measured around noon time at that, the question is how long was he awake? It sounds like he was saying ''good morning morning'' with his tweet.

Editor Rob the fact he increased his claim in another tweet suggests maybe the truth is closer to the one about 10 and change. But i don't know if he really was meaning first thing or not.

Did you check what time of the day he wrote the tweet he made? It sounds like he got measured at that the day he tweeted it, and it sounds like it was a morning measurement? Like ''what did you wake up to today? i woke up to 5'10 1/4''. Is this possible?

Editor Rob I checked the time said "4:29 a.m. - 16 Mar 2010", whether it tracks the person's location and true time I don't know.

If I recall correctly you used to have Tom Jones at a peak height of 5'10 and a current of 5'9.5 before his current listings right? If Tom Jones is 5'9.5 today, would that make Ricky the same?

Hold fire on this one. He may well be 5' 10". Could have always been a "posture guy". But look at him with Dave Grohl in 2005, looks more 5' 8-9" at best.

How sure are you on this one, Rob? Always gets 5' 8" listings and used to look it - until The Voice, where he has suddenly 'shot up' to at least 5' 9-10" range. I think he has starting wearing lifts to be honest. I was surprised when I saw him next to people like Tom Jones, particularly on this year's series!

Editor Rob I think giving that 10.25 is to make it sound more believable, he can look anywhere in 5ft 9-10 range, but 5ft 8? I don't believe he looks that height.

Photo hasn't come out Rob. This guy looks almost unrecognisable to five years ago. He used to be fat in the face, but now looks quite chiselled looking with Beckham like hair. Now I know he's obviously lost at least four stone, but he must have had surgery or something cosmetic done... I always thought of him as average height, probably the most I'd believe.
