@Abdul:

Im in the same boat man. I’ve hit 240lbs, which isn’t terrible for my height, but I definitely have a bit of a belly that is starting to bother me. 210lbs is more ideal for me so im trying to get back there. Good luck with your weight loss.

So do I, Rob. If he does, I will have to take action.

@Rob

It’s incredible to imagine that worlds tallest man, Robert Wadlow would be exactly 1m taller than you, or 100 cm taller!

If he lived today, where would your height go for. Would 5’8 be around his lower torso. ?
Editor Rob
Somewhere around his waistband of his trousers probably.

Erramius is back, safe and sound! I was scared out of my wits. She’s 15 and I was worried that she’d had a heart attack. It was my lifetime’s ambition to have a white cat and this is she! 😻

Hi again Rob!

I was on the phone to Jim to tell him about the boxer dog when I went into the kitchen and saw a big brown thing through the cat flap, and I screamed. Yes, he came back, and now I can’t find my precious white cat, Erramius. I’m very worried, and hope she shows up soon.

Jim reckons he wants to make friends because he hears me talking to and singing to my animals. I don’t think he’s treated properly, as I can hear him whimpering and being sworn at.

It’s still scary to see such a big interloper. I’ve only seen one other dog in my garden and that was when I was 11. He was harmless, but I still bunked off school to make sure he didn’t harm my childhood cat, Sooty.

I hope he doesn’t make a habit of this. Jim says boxers are normally nice dogs, and very intelligent, so he’s appeared for some affection. However, it’s too risky with all my cats, as he’s not exactly loved. 😢
Editor Rob
Sounds like the dog is looking for some attention, hope he doesn't spook the cats too much.

Thanks Rob. I tested the same method on the floor today(flat marble) and got 181.5cm at 9 pm. Maybe that means i need to correct my posture and work out more often? I guess it is.
Editor Rob
Yeah, maybe room for small postural correction.

Hello Rob and everyone here! So i just measured myself against the wall at 180.1cm and tested the "lying on the floor"method but on a flat bed and got exactly 183cm's (6ft on the nose on the tape). Why is there so much difference on the measurements? Is that physically possible?
-
Hi Peter. Do you measure 180.00 cm at your extreme low? Or do you measure below 180 at your extreme low?
Sandy Cowell said on 29/Sep/22
Hey Rob, Jenny and all!

I looked to see if my back garden foxes were around and I saw a MASSIVE GREAT BOXER DOG loafing about! I was 💩 scared, as he growled at me, so I went next door and told the owner, who said sorry! I replied, “It’s hardly your fault, but he IS a ferocious piece of work.”

He must weigh as much as me. I hope he doesn’t come in again. He poses a massive danger to my cats, so he’d better bugger awf for good! 🤣🤪 🖕

At least my foxes are friendly with my cats…..

🦊🐈‍⬛👌🏼🐈👍🏼🦊
Editor Rob
Yeah I've seen more cats just chillin while foxes are roaming about...not many dogs ever ventured into my garden!

Do you like or sometimes listen to "System of a downs" rocksongs?
Editor Rob
Not for a while, I'm mainly listening to soundtracks from movies recently.
Ryan01 said on 28/Sep/22
Rob, does looking down when facing the wall lead to a lower height measurement?
Editor Rob
If you tilt noticeably it might have a couple of mm effect, but we are talking 1 inch up/down tilts. Small fractions above or below the horizontal won't really effect things.
(Billythetreesurgeon) said on 28/Sep/22
Ehsan@ that’s awesome man, I’d love to be that height, I’d claim about 6ft 1 if it were me. my father is just a solid 6ft (doesn’t drop below) he is 60 now though bless him so will start shrinking sooner or later, and I ended up a weak 6ft, 5ft 11.3/4 , if we stand next to each other that difference is so minimal though

It's always the vertical measurement that counts for height.

A bed might throw up a bigger measurement error than we suspect.

@Rob

I measured my height with two different cans, I got 176.5 after being in school for 6 hours, and of course after 8.5 hours of being awake. And with the other can I got only 175.9. The difference was that the other can was very long and very wide, and the other one was of normal size.
Editor Rob
Big difference suggest something is afoot!

Hi Robert I have recently read the page you posted about height loss, and I have a question: how tall you think would your dad have been in 2022 if he weren't suffering from kyphosis?
Thank you
Editor Rob
I think if he were still somewhat active and had done basic stretches for his upper body, he may have been 5ft 8 today, rather than struggling to hit 5ft 7.

However he does have Psoriatic Arthritis, which has taken a toll on some joints, I notice with his knees he can't straighten them fully so has lost a bit of height there too.

His actual bone health is very good for his age...I make sure he gets a proper dinner every night and that he takes a vitamin supplement.

Big height request: French star Michel Piccoli. He was in so many memorable films (Contempt, Topaz, Belle de Jour, The Beautiful Troublemaker, Blow-Out, The Things of Life, Death In a French Garden, Le Doulos, Milou in May, We Have a Pope). He definitely deserves a page and 5’11.5” is the figure, Rob. Cheers

Im 186.4cm morning height and 184.5cm around 14 hours out of bed but sometimes I can shrink some more mms depending on activity (I can reach lows of 184.3cm but rarely any lower than that even on stressful days). Based on that I claim 6 ft and three quarters because of my height 5 hours out of bed which is 184.9cm.

My dad is around 5'8-5'9 (pakistani as well so not known for tall heights) so Im happy to reach the 6ft club. what height is your father?

@ James B 172cm

Two inches is noticeable. I’m 182, and I have a friend who’s weak 6 ft 2, 187 cm. It’s very noticeable, my eye level is below his nose, so I have to look up to his eye level, physically he looks longer, his shoulders is noticeably higher than mine which makes it even more noticeable. Proportionally he looks noticeably different.

However 2 inches isn’t drastically different like what Bobby said. I feel once a guy is taller than you by 2.5-3 inches it starts to become more “towering” I should say? Around 3-4inches is entering into the towering range where a guy will look much taller than you.

Rob should I lean against the wall and reach up to measure my height accurately?
Editor Rob
To make it simple, I'd face the wall and stand tall, but don't lean in. Use a long can on the top of your head.

Hey Rob. Whats the minimum amount of sleep to regain your full out of bed height?

For me I feel 7 hours sometimes gets me very close but 8 hours is enough for me.

Rob do u think poor posture can lead to rapid height shrinkage throughout the day? And according to u how much an average 188 cm guy(in the morning) with 197 lbs can shrink throughout the day?...
Editor Rob
The poor posture might put more strain on certain areas of the spine. Whether it really has a noticeable effect compared to doing something physical (with more pressure on discs) I'm not so sure...

Hey Rob, could you add Oona O-brien from Cobra Kai? (she's Devon Lee's actress) i'd say she's definitely grown since season 4 based on how tall she is barefoot next to flat 5'6 peyton in scenes with her, flat 5'4 is good for her.

Click Here Oona next to Peyton (Peyton is tilting so she looks a bit shorter)
Editor Rob
I saw on her breakdownexpress page, they updated her with 5ft 7 height.

Rob, how tall was Elsa Hosk in those heels? Would she be noticeably taller than a 6'0 guy?

They would put her towards 6ft 1, so a 6ft guy in shoes would look pretty much identical.

Genetics, but may depend on other things such as enough sleep, diet etc.
not genetics per say.

I think two inches can make a certain difference. The difference between a 5'8 and 5'10 guy will be noticeable, even if it isn't a drastic difference.

Your eye level goes up by two inches, for starters, your limbs are longer, and your shoulder level is higher. A 5'10 guy proportionally looks taller compared to a 5'8 guy. A 5'8 guy couldn't really get mistaken for 5'10 the same way that a 5'10 guy might be mistaken for 6ft.

@ Blanc - Yes, my Grandmother had a full life with two marriages. She had a weak heart yet still insisted on cleaning her house every day, like many German women.

She died of a heart attack at 73. She looked much younger, and her neighbours were surprised to hear how old she was, let alone that she’d passed on.

@ Abdul - I turned myself into a mesomorph through much walking. I’d say I’m a cross between an ectomorph and a mesomorph now, through I still have a great deal of muscle.

Good luck with your fitness programme. You’ll feel much better when you see the results, and you WILL look taller, of course! 😄👌🏼

Hey Rob. Quick question. I am new this height thing. So I usually measure 173.25 cm in thr morning and between 171.5 at night at my worst. Usually around 171.7-171.8. Is it fine to claim 5'7 3/4 or 172 cm?

Rob is fhere a big difference to how a 5ft8 and 5ft10 man will look in terms of there proportions/how aesthetic there bodies will look naturally? I am guessing 2 inches is not a significant enough of a difference.

Proportions, head size, shoulder height and clothing all have a role to play.

Hey, Rob! I'm 182 cm tall (hold on around that mark for the first part of a day and drop to around a few mms above 181 in the evening). I'm happy with my height, but also very height aware. Do you think that with sneakers that add around 3 cms and with my 88 kgs I give off an impression of a tall guy? Also, do you know how tall Ben Schneider of Lord Huron could be? Thanks!
Editor Rob
If you have good posture, not a low eyelevel or long head, you might manage to give the pretence of a 6 footer to others.
I am not sure on Ben, wasn't aware of him till now.

Abdul - I can’t think of any woman whatsoever who would weigh herself AFTER eating, but measuring makes no difference at all!

😂😂🍔⚖️❌📏✔️

I weigh 188 pounds pre breakfast. So I’m still overweight despite that I’m mesomorph by genetical reasons. But I am in the process of losing weight. My bmi is high, it’s at 27. My weight doesn’t suit my height. I gotta be slimmer to look taller too.
Bobby said on 22/Sep/22

It wasn't a misunderstanding. I just think it's weird for you to write about how Rob is not old after his birthday. I can't imagine someone telling me, "Hey, you're still young!" after my birthday. Gee, thanks, I guess?

It's inappropriate. I hope you understand that.

How tall should a girl be so in let’s say 5 inch heels would reach his height ? I believe he might be close to 190 cm in shoes
Editor Rob
If by 5 inch you mean gives near 4 inches of actual height then she has to be a good 5ft 10.5 to match him if he can be almost 190cm in shoes.
