I know I'm kibbitzing, here, but I just had to add this input: Piper was definitely taller than he is today. When he had that cancerous growth removed from his back, they had to remove a vertebra or two, and fuse a couple. He woke up from surgery, shorter than he when he went into it. This might also account for some of the additional tummy he's got. Remove those lower vertebrae, and the whole midsection shortens. The internal organs must kind of rearrange themselves, and bulge outwards a little. I don't care how short or tall the Hot-Rod is. He's still THE MAN.

You're forgetting his hip replacement surgery as well. The man lost 3-4".

I said 210 to 220... Seeing him recently he does look 210 max.. Just not a big guy at all.. really skinny legs.

The Ben,

you said that you have seen Christian some time ago. I also think that he is 6' max. Because I think that Cena is a shade under 6'1, and Cena is taller than Christian.
But I don't know if it is possible, that he is about 220lbs? I think that is to high. I would say between 205lbs and 210lbs?

Yeah he may have been my height, he never looked that tall but his posture was bad, his knees seemed pretty bad and with the hip replacement i imagine he has lost big height... 5'10 top at the moment..maybe 6'1 peak.. height loss due to surgery and injury.
Danimal said on 9/May/09
Ben, Piper would have been AT LEAST you height up until the early 90's. He has lost some serious height.

i thought he was about 6'0.5 but 6'0 i'd agree aswell. hes shorter than john cena. lance storm is th worst source for height. hes the same guy who's stated as being 5'11 and 7/8. he looks more like 5'10ish

After having met Roddy three times in the last couple of years, I would say he would be at most 5'11" but maybe closer to 5'10 1/2". I will post a recent photo from a few months ago with myself and Roddy. He was wearing cowboy boots and I'm in dress shoes. He is almost as tall as me in the photo.

I would agree with others that Roddy has lost abit of height over the years. Especially if you go back and watch films of him next to Ric Flair, Greg Valentine, Steamboat back in '81, '82 and '83. He was probably right around 6ft even.

Piper was obviously a minimum of 6' in the 80s and now about 5'11ish. Actually, Chris only appears to have 1.5" MAX on Piper, so you could argue close to 6' today. I'd give him about 6'1 when comparing him to Mr.T and Arsenio. Anything under 6' for a peak Piper is foolish.

Seano,

You could just say that you're 5'11.5" or a strong 5'11". You sound like me when I was 18 years old. I used to be 6' flat in the morning and drop down to the exact area as you by night, 5'11.25" - 5'11.50", which is basically bang-on at 181cm. At age 23 I seemed to have gained about half an inch at some point in time since I was 18. Now I hover around 182-183cm.

So, my point is you might gain a cm or two if you're still young enough. If you don't then I wouldn't sweat it though, 'cause 181cm is still a good and kindly deceiving height. By "kindly deceiving" I mean rarely anyone will question if you claim 6', so long as you maintain healthy posture. In fact we're not that far apart and I get pegged at 6'1" or 6'2" on a regular basis.

Question If Im 6'0'' flat in the morning and after a long day I'm between 5'11''1/4 to 5'11''1/3 what is my real height???

Whatever you want it to. It's YOUR choice. Most people just go with the height they are at their longest during the day. If you're up at 7-8 in the morning, I say measure yourself in the afternoon and that should be your AVERAGE height.

OLA: Piper had a CYST removed from his spine. Do you know what a a CYST means?? He also had hip replacement. The man was as tall as Vince McMahon and had at least 5" on Mean Gene in the 1980's and today looks like he has dipped to about 5'10". The man himself claimed he went from 6'1" to something like 5'9". I believe he lost 2-3", NOT from age, but because of serious surgeries that shortened his limbs. Anyways, why am I trying to argue with you. Believe what you want, but I was a HUGE fan of wrestling since the early 1980's. He was a much bigger man 20 years ago than he is today and so was Hogan. They have gone down the same path.

Piper is clearly 2 inches taller look at 4:07 - he was a good 6
AMK said on 26/Jun/08
Then we better downgrade Vince Mcmahon from from 6' 1.5" to 6 foot even. He was no taller than Piper, yet his footwear gave him a decided height advantage. Yes, I know Mcmahon was taller on the recent Piper's pit three or four years ago -- because of lifts by Vince and surgery and decreased height by Piper.

Here is Piper with Orndorff who was 5'11" or 5' 11 1/2" at best, and he's at least an inch taller, putting him at 6' 1/2" in prime.

Vince was not interviewing Piper in his socks... right? So give the devil his due. Slightly over 6' 0" in prime, 5' 10" now.

Also, Piper standing next to Vince, a 6'1" or slightly taller Bob Orton JR (in cowboy boots) and Bret Hart in the Piper's pit.

He was easily 6 foot to 6' 1/2" most likely somewhere in between. His footwear gives him little height, and his torso is noticeably less than in his early days (i mean strictly length, not girth lol) And I believe Mcmahon either wears lifts or is shorter than 6'1". Look at the footage, it doesn't lie.

Piper was closer to 6'1" in his younger days. Was the same height as Vince in the 1980's. Was about 1-1.5" shorter than him in the 1990's. In the 2000's about 3" shorter. Piper went down the same road as Hogan saddly enough.

I met and watched Bret Hart and Roddy Piper while they were guests at Gold's Gym in Everett, MA in the late 1980's. My careful estimate was that Roddy was 6'2" tall and Bret was 6'0.5". The front half of Bret's shoulders were huge. Roddy was very quiet and looked simply like a laborer patron at a working class bar after work. He looked about 190 pounds. No mass or strength. "Not that there's anything wrong with it." And, I'm sure about the heights I gave.
Anonymous said on 20/May/07
I met Roddy Piper in his prime back in 1984, and I can attest that he was well over 6 feet back then. I am 5'10.5" barefoot and wore cowboy boots that day we met, and I was surprised how much taller than me he was! Easily 6'2" or more back then. I believe he lost a lot of height due to his many hip surgeries.

Roddy was actually wearing amateur wrestling shoes...So, in his defense, his shoes didn't have much heels....If you go to his official website - you might see some photos of him going to the doctor and I believe those shoes in the picture are the same ones he had on that day.
Alex said on 15/Jan/07
Piper looks under 6'0 for sure. That guy is 6'1.5 in sandals so he's maybe about 6'2 in them and Piper is in shoes that are going to give an inch or so. I'd say Piper was 6'0 back then and 5'11 today. I doubt he was over 6'0 even back then.
Chris said on 9/Jan/07
Well, all I can say is that I was sent the article, via email, by one of my reliable wrestling sources....so I still don't question it.
Being a fan and collector (and meeting him twice )of Roddy since 1981, I'm pretty confident in my knowledge about him. Yeah Rod looks about 5-11 ish there to me. He's another one who noticeably shrank in recent years---hip replacement, shattered ankle in early 2002. In his prime I think he was an eyelash over 6 feet.

Was this pic recent? Gotta say, despite Roddy not looking terribly tall, it's the most robust and healthy I've seen him look in a while. In recent years, he's looked a bit haggard, pasty and flabby. In this pic, he looks tan and trim.

yes, Chris met him late july this year

If Chris is wearing sandals and piper is wearing thick heeled shoes then there's another 1/2 to 1 inch difference between the two. Piper may not be fully erect, but his back looks fairly straight and only his head is leaning. Chris probably isn't stretched out as much as he could be either. He looks fairly relaxed.

Piper was certainly never 6'2". He's probably just shy of 6' these days.

Too bad we can't see the lower half of their bodies. Is Piper still wearing kilts?

I think The Real Facts has got it pretty close, I'd say he's an inch off at the most. On the gyus I'm familiar, that is.

I don't understand why people think Roddy Piper is not 6'1.5". Ric Flair is 6'1" and he is a little taller than Flair. Piper actually looked about 6'2" or 6'2.5" in his Georgia Championship Wrestling days. Piper looked to be about 3 to 4 inches shorter than Hogan when they stood face to face in WCW and Hogan's real height is 6'5" or 6'6", not 6'8" as he was billed all of his years in wrestling.

I have to say I agree, Piper is no way 6'2 he was standing next to Austin at this years Wrestlimania and he was a little shorter and Austin is ment to be 6'2 which we all know is not true and as I have read Pipers book he did say he was 6'1 and a half, I feel we are looking at a guy who is 5'11'' Look at Wrestlimania 1 Piper had a stare down with Mr T who is 5'10 that should open your eyes!

He was a couple inches taller than Mr. T @ Wrestlemania, but he always seemed quite a bit shorter than Hulk Hogan during their encounters (It just seemed the Hulk was around 6'6" in the day because of the way he towered over a lot of the other wrestlers). I'd say Roddy is around 6'.

No way. Hot Rod is around 6', but my memory is fuzzy.

For the first time I am in accordance with Jason, he never looked short and his boots were never suspect, but he never looked that tall either.

My best estimate would be 5'11 1/2''. Possibly 6'0''. Powerslam, a UK wrestling mag with an insider's perspective, had his legit height as 6'0'' in a profile.

Heights are barefeet estimates, derived from quotations, official websites, agency resumes, in person encounters with actors at conventions and pictures/films.
