5'10 3/4 - 5'11 peak
5'8 before his death
RIP Stan Lee
Ian C. said on 27/Aug/19
It's a subversive thought, but it's possible that Stan Lee may have been the most successful author of fiction of the Twentieth Century, based on copies sold. In 1965, Stan wrote twelve titles every month, and I'm sure sales were in the millions for Spiderman and The Fantastic Four. And that was just one year. And now the movie franchises of his creations are selling millions of tickets.
When I was fourteen, Stan Lee was my favourite author. I got more pleasure out of that guy's brain than just about anybody else who ever published a story.

Rob I really like your site and I think you almost always hit celebrities' heights. but Stan Lee at 1.80 in height is impossible, has several photo of him with Jeremy Reener and he seems about 2 cm smaller than Jeremy who has 1.73
Editor Rob
He did shrink a lot in height, I think near 3 inches by his late 80's.
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 21/Mar/19
I roughly go through some research and Stan is 5'11 in his 20s-50s, 5'10.5" in his 60s, 5'9.5" in his 70s, 5'8.5" in his 80s and keeping well at 5'8 before his death.

I thought he had 6'0 as a peak height? I read that here somewhere, but Rest in Peace, Stan Lee. As always, you shall and will forever be The Man. In yours words, naff said.
Ian555 said on 26/Nov/18
Stan was probably 5’ 11” in his peak but looked 5’ 9” next to Tibet Maguire in Spider-Man 3. RIP Stan.

Viper, I don't think he had any particular fatal conditions but it's clear this year (and maybe in 2017) he had deteriorated. A recent interview from October described him as having very labored breathing, barely being able to hear, and frequently rambling incoherently.

He was quite active for a nonagenarian, but your age is going to catch up to you eventually no matter what

Was he sick? He looks like a healthy 95 year old to me.

RIP. Even before the Marvel films started hitting big in the 2000's. The huge influence his work had can't be overstated.
Looked a weak 5'9 range before the time of his death.

I recently saw a picture Stan with Carmelo Anthony which took this year, Stan look close to 5'9 maybe just 5'8 3/4. I'm not sure did he really lost this much of height since peak.
berta said on 31/Mar/18
was he this tall? maybe he was. I thought maybe 178-179 guy that is down to 172-3 today
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 16/Oct/17
Rob, could he have been maybe 179cm peak or are you convinced he was a 5ft11er?
Editor Rob
well, I don't think 3 inch loss for Stan is unlikely given his age, but his peak at a low might be 5ft 10.5, at a max you could say just over 5ft 11.
Slim 182 cm said on 1/Aug/17
Big rob, how come clints lost 9 cm but this guys only lost 5!?
Not sure how tall he is , he's had like 100 cameos though...
He's 94 years old btw.
Editor Rob
I just never put him at the 5ft 8 he looks nowadays, but I think today he is around that range.
Ray said on 28/Jul/17
I would say he was very close to, if not at, 6'0" at his peak, but he is definitely down to 5'9" now.

Rob, just wondering if you've bought a ticket for a shoot with him at the London con in July... I figure you probably haven't, since the odds are high he'll sit down and it'd be of no use to the site.
Editor Rob
yeah he will sit so it's of no use for me!

Bouncer said on 15/Feb/09
Some billed heights from (Stan Lee's) Comics:
Peter Parker: 5'9
Dr. Octopus: 5'7
Thor: 6'6
Captain America: 6'2
Rhino: 6'5
The Punisher: 5'10
"The Thing" Ben Grimm: 5'10
Bruce Banner: 5'9
Betty Ross: 5'8
Rick Jones: 5'9
Marlo Chandler: 6'0
Savage Hulk: 7'8
Grey Hulk: 6'6
The Professor (Hulk Version): 7'8
Personally i doubt a few heights like Hulk's: All the green Hulk versions to me seemed way taller all the time, at least between 9'0 and 10'0.
I also don't understand why the rather "small and lanky" described Characters Peter Parker and Bruce Banner should be 5'9 which is, especially a couple centuries earlier, an average height.

why are you confused?.all the best pics on the site, and the most pics are me.his arm around me made me not stand as straight either.ive been on site for 3 years.despite a summer vacation.
The Flame said on 27/Dec/08
Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. In that pic, is that the glenn posting on here? I'm confused... and Stan is very tall for his age... he is definitely 5ft10 inches without shoes.
I saw Stan on the streets in NYC a few months ago, I'm 6ft2, he was no more than 4 inches shorter than me. He's definitely taller than the average guy, the average height is 5ft8 to 5ft9.
So most people I have to look down to a whole lot. But Stan was taller than a lot of people I come in contact with. Even if it's only an inch, he's still middle height. Not average, but not too too tall either.
A living legend. You have to respect the guy. Very tall for his age, very healthy for his age, and looks very good for his age.
Chris said on 19/Dec/08
