R.I.P Suzanne Pleshette.

I stood beside Ms Pleshette as we both waited to be seated in The Polo Lounge. This was the summer of 1979. I am 6’ and Ms. Pleshette barely came up to my shoulder. I remarked on how tiny she was because I had assumed from her personality she would be a taller, more physically imposing woman. But she was so petite and short. I think 5’2” rather than 5’4”. My sister who was with me is 5’6” and Ms. Pleshette was more than 2 inches shorter.

Having seen 5'3" Suzanne in Rome Adventure and Wall Of Noise, now I'm convinced she was 5'3". But she looked smaller than her petite 5'3" size because she was small boned, just like 5' Cathy Rigby and 5' Patty Duke. Small boned small framed petite women have trouble buying clothes what are "just right" for their body frames. But whether Suzanne wore dresses or pants, she never felt overpowered by what she wore. (In Wall Of Noise, though,Jean Byron was billed 7th. Ralph Meeker was top billed.)

Nice to hear Warner Archives brought out Wall Of Noise 3 weeks ago to DVD. That and Rome Adventure, also with 5'3" Pleshette, made my birthday list! Disappointing, though, she died at 70 from chest cancer, but it will be interesting to get Wall Of Noise, but how did Jean Byron pick off top billing? We'll find out this fall.

I would have guessed 5'5", so your figure is no doubt correct. I had dinner with Suzie with mutual friends a couple of months before she died. It was the first (and sadly, only) time I met her. Funny as heck, irreverent, earthy and down to earth. She made me feel like a lifelong friend. She got a big kick out of telling us what sex was like at her age. She knew she was dying, but you'd never know it. The dinner was all laughs and fun. Meeting her was unforgettable.

Yeah I like her too. And she looks about 5'4" maybe an inch or two less without shoes. Actually that makes her taller than the 5'2" average for American women back in the early 60's...

Oh I love Suzanne Pleshette. She was so gorgeous with that milky skin, jet black hair and blue eyes. Her voice was pretty hot too!
