The pictures with Eubank definitely lend weight to Arnold being much taller than most folk would like to believe. Eubank is a very solid 5'10", with good posture too.

Check out Arnold in the movie Maggie, which he made when he was 67. Almost all the shots of Arnold are taken from mid-chest up, which is ironic, since Arnold's career and appeal are based almost entirely on his physique. I suspect that he is crippled and cannot move for more than a few seconds without giving this away.

He seemed to hold his height pretty well until his mid 50's, around the time of Terminator 3 when he still looked a very solid 6 footer.
When he became governor he aged about 30-40 years in a very short time. His hair thinned, his skin began to wrinkle and his spine seemed to collapse in on itself. Same thing happened to Bill Clinton when he was in office. Those types of high stress jobs age a man well before his years (including height loss).

Measured? When was Reg measured? Provide your source. I've been a fan of bodybuilding my whole life and I've never ever seen a document stating his MEASURED height. He has been called both 6'1" and 6'2", just like Steve Reeves, but 0 reference to an actual measurement and btw, there are dozens of pics of Arnie and Reg from the late 60's where sometimes they look the same height, sometimes Reg looks taller and sometimes Arnie does, so one pic of them does not prove anything.

That picture is 12 years old? Arnold was NOT 5'11" in that pic taken in 2005. He was at least 6'0" (probably taller) back then.

I think Arnold looks around 180-182 these days, in my opinion to drop from 187 to 180 it's less probable, but who knows. 185 can be more realistic guess. I cant see Arnold at 187

My dad is 5'11 when he was young and he insist the two time when he met a young arnie he was no way over 6'0 and i told him he was listed at 6ft 1.5 and claim it he laugh and say he can only be this height in boots. Somehow i agree it and i think he look at most 5'11 nowadays

Interesting looking through old movie prop sales. Back in the 70s and 80s when magazine articles would go on about Arnold's clothing sizes and chase him up in stores around LA, they mentioned his 34" inside leg, and a 34 or 36" waist - pretty fair a tall and long-limbed fellow as he was. Let's jump to 2000, and if we look here Click Here we see his pants are 38" waist 33" leg. In 2012 Click Here he's wearing a 38" waist and 32" leg.

Watching him in the new celebrity apprentice trailer it's clear that Arnold has lost significant height - I would think primarily in his knees and his lower back. I think it's interesting to try to figure out when he lost the height.
His peak of 6'1" or 1.85 was probably up to age 45 or so.
I think he lost 1" by 55 and another 1" by 65 and perhaps even another half an inch since then. I think he'd struggle to reach 5'11" in the morning now.

Not just people over 6 foot. I have a friend in his late 60s now who used to measure over 5'10 but on his last doctors checkup was only 5'8, much to his disappointment! Funny because he always used to round himself up in general conversation and say he was 6 foot tall, when we could all see he was nowhere near it!

As a GP for 17 years, I have seen many taller people lose a couple of inches over the years. It is not that unusual for men over 6 foot tall, especially a man who is touching 70 years of age.

It's the angle of the pictures - on the ones shot from low down he looks the same height. the third picture is shot from a level, or higher, and you can see he's got a couple of inches on him. I'd still say he's 5'11 these days, out of shoes. But Christ he looks tall next to Nasser in that very first picture - there's no way that fellow could've been 5'11.5"

Have studied his height for many years now, on comparrison to dozens of other celebrities with more easily identifiable heights, I personally put him now at a good 5ft 11in, most probably adding half an inch to that! In his day, 6ft 1/2in - 1inch no shoes and in the morning.

The reason Arnold's upper body looks 'compressed' is simple. Look back at photos of him in his bodybuilding prime - as a tall man he is/was very long-limbed. Usually the way with tall people - all the height comes from the legs. So Arnold's torso was never particularly lengthy. Now he's pushing 70, his middle has, quite naturally, thickened - hence the illusion of being 'compressed'. I agree with the overall opinion here - he's probably only dropped a couple of inches, from 6'1 - 5'11.

There's a Shawn Ray interview somewhere about when he first met Sergio Oliva. Shawn Ray was well known as a 5'7" "giant killer" in bodybuilding. By this point Sergio was in his late 40s or even 50s, and Shawn mentions being surprised that he was almost as tall as this man he'd considered a mythological giant all these years. So therefore, well into middle age Sergio must have still been a couple of inches taller. Shawn himself listed Oliva's stats on a tribute on a message board somewhere and put him at 5'11 (presumably when younger). I'd always heard and read he was 5'10 myself and inclined to believe it.

I was wearing shoes myself, Doc, let's not forget that! The ones I had on that day have a 1.25 heel. Didn't notice Arnold's footwear (I was too close and wouldn't have thought of it anyway) but I'd have guessed he was at least my height overall.

Another proof that the billed height is correct: in pictures with Bruce Willis (who was 182-183 cm.) in the early nineties, Arnold was clearly taller, over an inch more. That puts him around 187. In recent pictures he is almost even with Bruce, since Arnold lost 5-6 cm and Willis around 1 or 2. So Willis was 182-183 and Arnold 186-187 when they were at their peak. Nowdays maybe Bruce is 180 and Arnold 181-182.

My chiropractor met Arnold at a convention about 10 years ago already, still has the picture with him in his office. His best guess is that Arnold was 5'11" to 5'11.5" at the time. I also have a friend that met him when he toured an Oshkosh Truck plant a few years ago. My friend described Arnold as small, but to be fair my friend is 6'1.5" to maybe 6'2" and about 235 lbs of muscle

Yes, these celebrities must be so used to being gauped at wherever they go; I don't think I'd like it much and I certainly wouldn't appreciate the nosy photographers and press hounding me! I'm quite happy being invisible sometimes.

Well Sandy, I didn't even have chance to prepare my cool, let alone keep it! It was totally unexpected and I just stared (I'm ashamed to say) and eventually stumbled on my way. But Arnold clocked me and gave a knowing grin. I'm sure he's used to much more hysterical reactions, so I probably didn't come off too badly. As for his height, I'm a shade under 6 foot and he looked at the very least the same as me, certainly no less. We were close enough for me to be certain of that.

Walked past Arnold in St James's (London) last night. Did a double-take, as I wasn't exactly expecting to see him. He was with an older gentleman and a woman pushing a pram (has he just had a kid??). He didn't look gigantic, maybe a 6 footer but not much more. He noticed me staring and smiled, so that's my brush with fame.

If you see pictures of Arnold and Danny at the Golden Camera Awards in Germany last year, Danny comes up to mid-chest on Arnold. If we go with this then Arnold is an inch or so taller than George Clooney (who is comfortably over 5'10). So therefore, yes, probably 5'11 - 6 foot, as most people here say.

Well anyway Van Damme had his height measured by his mother in a recent documentary and she found him to be 177cm - just under 5ft 10in in stature, she was measuring him out for a suit. Anyway, there was at least a 3 inch difference in height between Arnie and Jean Claude. I would imagine Arnie wears lifts so if you subtract about 2cm just under an inch I would guess Arnie is 182cm without shoes - 5ft 11.5in just like you estimated Rob.

The photo that Priyom posted is from Gold's Gym. I have seen Priyom in the gym and he is NOT 5'11". He is closer to 5'9", possibly lower than that. He has done some acting work and on his twitter page he has a photo with Michael Keaton where he looks shorter than Keaton, who nowadays isn't more than 5'8". It's funny cuz the same day the photo is from, I also saw Arnold in the gym and I remember he was working out with Ralph Moeller, who towered over him. I saw him again recently working out with a trainer and he was like 5'10.5"-5'11". You also gotta take into account that he has a big head and his hair make him look taller

I'd apologise Doc. I generally don't recall that, and watched it a few months back. Even if he did say that, I'm fairly sure it's bull. There's no chance a 1970s Arnold was 5'10".

I'm sure Johnson never said 5'10. I don't recall this from any articles or DVD interviews. Yes, height was one of the things that worked against Arnold in this case - but what you need to remember is that originally even Lou Ferrigno wasn't considered tall enough. The role actually went to Richard Kiel, purely because of his superhuman height. The Hulk character was supposed to be well over 7 foot tall after all. It was only when the first episode was already being shot that they decided Kiel didn't look an impressive physical specimen and that they would have to go with a bodybuilder. As there was nobody with both an impressive bodybuilding physique and a height over 7 foot, they downgraded significantly to a 6'4" Lou. In the episodes, characters still describe the Hulk they have sighted as being over 7 foot tall.

I think Rob that Arnold was 183.5cm 6ft 0.25in max at his peak perhaps a tad smaller. But today I would say he wears lifts and his height without shoes is closer to 179cm 5ft 10.5in. This is clearly evident from the photo that he had taken with 5'11.25in Tony Blair outside No. 10 9yrs ago where it is clear that Arnolds shoes look to have a thicker heel. The only way your 5ft11 claim would have seemed sensible, is that if he was actually 6ft1.5, but that's not the case at all.
