adam driver is not really under 189 and Murray 184,5 ( maybe 184,7 ish) today. there is almost 4,5 cm beetween them today and that is what it looked in the movie. Murray 6´1 1/4 peak and 6 3/4 today.

6ft 1 is the 69th to 70th percentile for American adult males. This site has about 30% of celebrity males listed at 6ft 1 or taller in terms of their peak height. This makes me think that at least 30% of American adult males are 6ft 1 or taller.

Check up the documentary "Der fantastische Mr. Murray" by ARTE. Stephen Tobolowsky says at 33:16 that Murray was taller than him back in the 90s. So when Tobolowsky was 188 cm tall in his prime then Murray was at least 189 cm.

He was around the same as Arnold Schwarzenegger at peak, but always carried himself much better and still has good posture.
Gotta say hd did a good job preserving his height, unlike Arnold, who looks like a dwarf nowdays, and not because of his current height but because of his shrank torso.

He’s 6’0.5” at almost 70 which is pretty impressive since most dudes at that age lose an inch. He was shorter than Glover and Driver(6’1” and 6’2” respectfully) in the dead don’t die. I really think that 186cm is the best listing for Murray's peak height given that he consistently edged out guys like Dan Aykroyd and Kevin Costner and could appear anywhere within the strong 6'1-1.5 range.
You recently said Rob that Bill could be 6'0.5 range now which is why I'm proposing the 6'0.75 listing for his current height given that I think a fraction under 6'1 is likely for him nowadays although maybe not as low as 184cm. What do you think Rob?

I recall seeing an episode of SNL where Murray is horsing around with Eric Idle and both were roughly the same height, I though Murray a smidgeon taller, I'd have thought 6'1.5". Before I got slightly sidetracked with the various forms of William, I was wondering if the taller Williams call themselves Bill and Will and the smaller ones Billy or Willy. It seems to be true that the child Williams tend to stick a "y" on the end of their shortened names. Perhaps if they maintain a dinkier adult size, they keep their "y's"!*

It might be true in the case of celebrity Williams: average celeb Bills and Wills are over 6ft; average Billy is only a touch over 5ft9!

Suitable that you should mention Sigourney Weaver, I think her listing is pretty accurate, one reason actually I think Murray's listing is off. Watch Ghostbusters, is there 3 inches between Weaver and Murray? I don't think there is.

I also never said he was a "pathetic" 5'11.5 nor do I think it would be "pathetic" if he was that. I estimated him at close to 6' flat, and I still do (and again, that means 6' flat in the evening, NO SHOES. That's plenty tall). Some here think he's 6'2" or 6'4" (!), I've never seen anything that would even remotely indicate that much. I'd be interested to see a picture showing that.

Rampage: nope. What's rubbish are claims that he was ever anything like 6'1", let alone over that mark. These are supposed to be afternoon/evening BAREFOOT heights. If you're still very close to 6' later in the day, you'll easily be 184+ cm with shoes. I consider that tall, and suitable for Murray.

I've seen you on other pages here, always pushing numbers that are consistently a full inch or sometimes more too high for the person in question. What's up with that?

Bill Murray was not quite as tall as David Letterman back in the day. Murray could appear taller than a flat 6'1, but everyone can occasionally appear taller than they really are. Last year, on the Jimmy Kimmel show (you can find the clip on Youtube), Murray was about the same height as Kimmel, with Murray in flats (yes, like ballet flats) and Kimmel in dress shoes... which translates to Murray being clearly taller than Kimmel. Now Kimmel's height... that's a good question. 5'10"? 6ft? (probably not the latter)

Based on that, 185 cm is the upper limit for Murray, again seeing that he was the same height as William Atherton in the early 1980's (just in case someone tries to argue "height loss"). Take a look at Atherton's page here. Both men perhaps over 6ft when they were younger, but not over 6'1".

Just saw Ghostbusters (1 and 2). Around the same height as William Atherton, clearly shorter than Harold Ramis and a LOT shorter than Kurt Fuller. The comparison between him and Aykroyd is tricky, throughout both movies one looks taller in one scene and the other in the next. In any case, the difference is not more than one inch.

Also definitely not THAT much taller than Sigourney Weaver. Murray's (elsewhere) listed 6'2" is downright insane, he's definitely not over 6'1". Most probably somewhere between 5'11.5 and 6'1", the comparison with Atherton is the best proof of that so far considering there's a picture here of Atherton with Rob. Have to think about this some more before I submit a guess.

Yes, I understand you, Richard. Of course, subtle placement can always make the difference in a photo, but I do think they're pretty close to side by side there. Typically even big elevators don't add more than 6-7 cm, but Rob himself owns a pair that give nearly 10 cm, so it wouldn't surprise me if Burt had 8 cm elevator boots. The heels alone are big and the angle steep.

Richard, I agree Burt was likely around 180(5'10.75"-5'11"), but I'm not sure what height he was with elevator boots. Some of his elevator boots added at least 3", so he'd be 187-188 in those. He may have even worn 3.5" elevator boots on some occasions so it's possible he hit as tall as 189 cm in them as he was taller than 6-1ish Roger Moore in Cannonball Run and at least as tall as 6'1" Jonathan Ross in the early 90s, both of whom were at least 188-189 range in shoes. He actually looks about 3 cm taller than Murray there, but if Murray had normal shoes on, they'd be similar.

If you mean Burt could look like a 187 cm man max in elevators than I agree. Usually, he looked more in the 184-186 cm range in his big elevators, but Murray is almost barefoot so it skews things. Bill could have been 186, but I'm not sure about 187.

He looked 5 ft 11 in Groundhog Day and that's with shoes on. Bare feet he was most likely 5 ft 10. Today he looks about 5 ft 9 due to shrinkage.

Yeah i think 6'1" is spot on, he was the same height as Dan Ackroyd in Ghostbusters and similiar to John Candy, strong 6'1"

As a lifelong Ghostbusters fan, my observations are that Ramis had in excess of inch on him minimum and it wasn't just an impression from his huge hair.

Murray was very close equal to Aykroyd in height but in some scenes looked a shade shorter. If you consider the "Nestle Crunch Bar" scene outside the New York Public Library, here Murray looks certainly shorter than both co-stars.

He was noticeably shorter than Sedgewick Hotel Manager Michael Ensign who is listed on this site at 6.1, and Murray and co are in their big paratrooper boots in this scene so speculate to your hearts content.

In Ghostbusters II, in every scene with Sigourney Weaver, Murray's considerably taller than her, whereas Aykroyd is only a little taller than Weaver who wears small heals. Bill seemed to grow two inches for scenes with Weaver. The only explanation I can conclude is Murray wore small lifts maybe an inch. He's over 6 feet maybe he was 6.1 but certainly no taller.
