English entertainer, best remembered as one-half of the comedy duo Morecambe and Wise. He once said "In his stocking feet" he was "5ft 5in" and in an article from the Evening Standard (1990) it mentioned he was "Now 5ft 5½in and circa 11 stone"

It doesn't seem possible that he's no longer with us. He was so great a part of my Saturday night viewing, and it 🎼🎵🎶 seems like yesterday! 😿

5ft5 makes sense for dear old Ernie, even if I did think he was 5ft6 for some reason! The Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show was a must each festive season and they always had a run of shows every year, just like The Two Ronnies, who also had a Christmas Show.
Eric Morecambe was always teasing little Ern about his 'short, fat, hairy legs'! I don't think Eric was what you'd call tall - merely average, but as he was the more stupid of the two, I preferred him!
