they are about the same height, 'exactly' is hard to tell. what i found most interesting is that casper's internet listing's are the same as depp's, 5-9, 5-9.5 and 5-10, 5-9.5 being perhaps the most reliable, since it looks like it is the most common, and why would one insert half an inch there if it was not accurate? i think Rob had Casper van Dien listed at more than 5-9 a while ago. depp is almost certainly 1.77m as I have been saying.

depp was never overly friendly,and would turn me down for photo with alot in the early 90s.now he wasnt a jerk however.then he became this shy,quiet guy that he always was i guess that signed and posed up a storm.loved posing with people for 10 years.now reports have him as trying to get away from you if he can.phony nice if you catch him.waved over my friends on a film set 6 months ago and cops threatened my friends with arrest if they came over.couldnt depp step in? weird.he did for me years ago with film security.he said about me "he's ok,he stays".he never looked taller than 5-11 and usually looked 5-10.

Do you realise that he never was seen as short for most of his career? It's only now that he is in his 40's that this came up. The thing with this guy is that he floats around that 175cm-179cm gap, which is the barrier between shortness and tallness. That is why his height is so enigmatic.

hi glenn. i agree with you two, hes 175cm to 178cm although in some of the earlier stuff like "private resort" i thought he looked 5'10.5-5'11". if i had to pick one out right now i'd say 177cm. he has the "tall-short" type of body which hints 5-10. never a flat 5-9.
hi glenn. i agree with you two, hes 175cm to 178cm although in some of the earlier stuff like "private resort" i thought he looked 5'10.5-5'11". if i had to pick one out right now i'd say 177cm. he has the "tall-short" type of body which hints 5-10. never a flat 5-9.

thanks guys for supporting me.depp in the early 90s looked as tall as 5-11 at times to me and others(google arrest the mark hotel 1993 or 94,the tallest i ever saw him).but obviously thats with boots or lifts.the question is whether he is 5-9 or 5-10.he isnt under that.his official height is 5-10.and its possible. and yes,colin farrell is 5-11.if im wrong he isnt a hair under 5-10.but im willing to bet $ on 5-11.

Ok, that's possible, but all the pictures that he has taken with Johnny Depp were in the afternoon or in the evening. Means, he is awake for 1 to 5 or 6 hours. In that time he wouldn't have lost a lot. So you could say he was a legit 5'8 on the Depp pictures.

Editor Rob there was one time I remember - I forget which page it was on - where glenn said he and a friend done various measurements on his bumpy wooden floor at 3am (which is his evening height since he woke afternoon). He said he got 5ft 7.75 down to 5ft 6!

I saw him at this years MTV movie awards, and when he received his award he was near Steve Carell and the Rock. The rock is a big dude, but Carell looked taller than him in dress shoes but Depp had thick boots on. He doesn't seem to have a 5' 9" build imo. So id say a strong 5' 8" for Depp.

looked somewhat tall in donnie brasco..but he also has this lean,pencil body which makes him look a little taller than what he is..in some scenes though,especially those with madsen,he looked really short (when they run into that attorney,for example).so 5'9 seems right for him..

Again, take a look at "Private Resort", Rob Morrow and Johnny Depp are shown barefoot by the pool and Depp clearly has atleast 2 inches on Morrow... This was the 80's and they were both young... If we were to consider that Glenn is actually 5'7, then based on the two pictures w/ Glenn, 5'9 is the absolute maximum for JD - anything beyond that is absurd.

I think in this case it is. You can clearly see the sidewalk, and although no shoes I doubt one is wearing huge lifts. Depp should have a solid 3 inches on him, he's actually shorter though. Take into consideration the pavement slide, and we have a 5'7 Depp.

Don't you find it funny that every single photo would make him appear so much shorter? If he were 5'6" Kate Moss would have towered over him in heels.. that's not the case she looked pretty even with him in heels... again putting him around 5'8" maybe slightly over on a good day.

Im biased though as that is basicaly my hieght. 5'9.5 morning and as low s 5'8.5 night. I usually look fairly average but definatly a little under avarage. Around a bunch of 6 foot plus ers I start looking short. I think 5'8.5-5'9.5 is the most elusive height range. UNK, well i've been measured numerous times and know my height to be indisputably 5/7 (i'm a dot over maybe) and a half inch taller when I get up. A friend of mine whose my exact height met Depp. He says he's a couple inches taller. 5.9 seems dead on and maybe a dot over (at the most), but I don't beleive he's 5.10 quite. I'd recant if he actually was though.
P.S. I find it amazing that people get angry or annoyed that Depp may possibly be 5.10 because I don't see what the big deal about admitting it if he was. Depp is a guy that is hard to pin down in terms of height. I do think he tends to slouch and look down when he walks to which can account for this. However, every time I see him on Jay Leno he appears to be 2 inches shorter than leno (with regular sneakers). Leno is 5'11 so Depp can't be any shorter than 5'9.

I've seen a photo of him where he was visibly shorter than Jerry Bruckheimer, who is 5'6 max and gave glenn a 5'5 impression once.

Let's say his boots give him only 3cm (-3) and his leaning lets him appear 4cm smaller (which is possible; so +4) Then you got it like that: +4-3+3 = +4; add Glenns shoes and you have +6, which would make a 1.79 Depp.

Glenn, I think Orlando wears boots or lifts very often. If he's wearing dress shoes I guess there's a little lift inside. The boots might be normal size. But it's not that hard to appear 6ft when you are 5'10.5.

This might sound very weird, but my body is johnny depps body. My morning height is 5'9.6-7 and in my late evening/night height is 5'9.2, and in the middle of the day I am about 5'9.4-5. And my weight right now is 145 pounds.
90% percent of the people i talked to about my height estimates it from 5'10.5-6' and becomes really shocked when i tell them i'm about 5'9. The only ones who estimates my height lower than 5'9 is tall girls. There were this 2 girls in a party who were 5'9.5-5'10, we were talking and out of nowhere they said; dude you're kinda short.. youre about 5'7-5'8 right? :)
So when it comes to depp i really think he is 5'9, he just has that heightillusion type of a body just like me. He can look as short as 5'7 and as tall as 6'.

This might sound very weird, but my body is johnny depps body. My morning height is 5'9.6-7 and in my late evening/night height is 5'9.2, and in the middle of the day I am about 5'9.4-5. And my weight right now is 145 pounds.
90% percent of the people i talked to about my height estimates it from 5'10.5-6' and becomes really shocked when i tell them i'm about 5'9. 5'9 - 5'10 is a very versatile height. Slump a little bit and you'll look much shorter, square your shoulders while standing tall and you'll look much taller. Johnny Depp is probably within this range. My husband is 5'10.5 and with horrible posture he looks much shorter. With athletic shoes, he looks easily 6 ft. It's a cool place to be.

What shoes did Johnny wear? His usual 1 - 1.5 inch heeled boots? Your husband was probably 5'11 in sandals (except they had a big sole; there are some with an inch sole), Johnny 5'10.5 in boots. Yep, the same estimate again, 5'9 - 5'9.5.
