Very true, though I personally thought Barkley generally gave the best impression among the two but I would hardly have thought more than 1cm which clearly excludes anything under a strong 6'4 range. If Pat Riley described him at 6'4.5 I think there's room for doubt about whether he's a full 6'5 or not.Let's take Barkley as the reference and put him at 6'4 5/8 then it could make sense. While it's possible to question Riley words that he was only 6'4.5 it's almost a certainty that he was measured at least once under 6'5.The question is:was he really measured only 6'4.5" or did Riley rounded down a 6'4 7/8 measurement in order to undermine Jordan?close to 6'5 anyways
Canson said on 3/Sep/16
@123: I respectfully disagree. Jordan for sure is not 6'3 anything and hasn't been likely since High School. I agree He is not 6'6 as listed nor a full 6'5 at his lowest, but I'd be utterly shocked if he's below maybe my height of 6'4.5 (6'4 3/8 at my lowest). I'd personally call him 6'5.25 out of bed and 6'4.5 at his lowest give or take 1/4". This would encompass the measurements of 6'4 7/8 if that measurement is a true measurement as it'd be an hour after waking and 6'4.75 two hours out then after 5 be around the 6'4.5 mark. This is of course guessing but it is how I measure during the day as well 6'5.16 out of bed. And Jordan is not "noticeably" shorter than Barkley. Theyre about the same height. Some pics will make Charles look taller (he is much bigger in the body too) others Jordan will look taller. Sure, one may edge the other by 1/4" inch and not sure which would but having heard from people who have met both. Barkley is the same height as I am according to a friend of mine who is 6'3 and has met him. he said he looked about an inch and a half taller and said he is my height. Someone else I know has met Jordan, he's 6'2 and said the same that Jordan is about as tall as I am Seeing the difference in person. He said not a full 3" taller than he is but at least 2.
Canson said on 1/Sep/16
@John: I agree. 6'4.5-.75 is the norm for a big 2 guard which they'd make 6'6. he's just about exactly 6'4.5 at his lowest. Anyone who describes him that's cognizant of height shoes timing says he looks between 6'4 and 6'5. Basically telling me that he prob isn't as high as 195 at his lowest or else he would look nothing under 6'5 in higher footwear but more like 6'4.5 to look that way and in a pair of His sneakers that'd almost make him a legit 6'6 if they add 1.2-1.4".

@Shane: agreed and is the definition of a weak 6'5. 6'5.25-.375 like you have him and between 194-195 before 6'4.5-.625. You know too, being your height, if you fall to 6'1.5 like you, do that people wouldn't even give 6'2 a second thought when most ppl claim shoes and especially wearing a higher cut shoe like a Jordan brand and with longer legs and a broad physique. 6'4.5 as a low height is underestimated. Even at 6'4 3/8 on a daily low and 6'4.25 on a gym day low and in a low shoe 3/4" shoe) I still get guessed 6'5 regularly when in reality I'd be exactly 6'5 in shoes at night

I haven´t talked about this with my cousin for twenty years (we don´t see each other very often). From what he told me I assumed that he saw Jordan (and the others, Pippen, Rodman, Kemp, Schrempf) not just on the court but also off the court. So his opinion should be reliable. He said that all players where shorter than their listed heights. And he said Jordan was his height or 1`94. That can mean that Jordan was actually 1`94 or a couple of cms over that. From pics posted here I believe he is 1´95-96 and will edge my cousin

Canson said on 23/Jul/16
@Joe Jake: they don't lie per Se. That's how they're measured (in shoes). MJ is def close to 6'6 if not a full 6'6 in shoes depending on when he is measured. With his sneaks he can prob gain a good 1.2-1.4 easily. So if he's 6'4.5-.75 that's a weak 6'5 in reality but he's 6'6" for sports and entertainment purposes. One person who met him below described him 197-198 in "public" I reckon that's in shoes as he is frequently described by most in the 194 to 195 range barefoot

@Chris Dude just stop the madness. Kobe was never measured at the pre draft camp because he chose to "skip" it. His wife was the one who measured him at 195cm. In person he looks 194cm-195cm. In pictures Kobe Bryant, Charles Barkley both appear to be the EXACT same height as Jordan. All 3 of these guys also have a very similar body type i.e. average legssuper long torso. If MJ is 6'6 then that would make Dennis Rodman over 6'7 and Scottie Pippen over 6'9! Jordan is 194-195, end of story. Quit upgrading people man.
Canson said on 19/Jul/16
Ok Height let's agree to disagree on this one lol. The range is too variant (it's far more likely Oscar and Jean overestimated him). No way in hell MJ is 6'5 1/2 or 3/4 or what they have him esp when ppl who've met him closer in height have said 194-195
Canson said on 19/Jul/16
Yes Height I saw Gonzalo's post. Gonzalo said "he" thinks Jordan is 195.he didn't meet him his cousin did. His cousin actually said he's "his" height 194. I don't see him as that low So let's split it and say he's 194-195. Jim at 6'4.75 said he looked him directly in the eye and he's no lower than 6'4.5 and then the exact same That means to me He's between 194-195. Either of them could've edged the other honestly and don't know what time either measured. Remember he met him 6-7 yrs ago so he didn't change his opinion just said they're similar. I've heard the exact same from ppl I know who I know that have met Jordan in person. They've all said He's between 6'4 and 6'5 or around 6'4.5 or so. Sure they could be a fraction off and keep it real height varies throughout the day. So nobody knows their exact. So someone being 6'4.5 or .75 in the afternoon chances are they can see the other at a diff point of the day they're that close to each other. Don't know why the people that I know who have seen him aren't reliable. They say the exact same as KROC and Jim Gonzalo's cousin. I bet if i said my friends called him 6'5-6'6 then people would take it and use that but it isn't true so I see no incentive to lie and say he is just because he is Jordan. But Because This site is all about inflating people to make them more standout as people for some unknown reason. These include 6'2 and 6'3 guys who's claims are exactly in line with Jim's and Gonzalo's cousin. Jordan is likely between 194-195 but not over 195 is all I was saying. Or else he'd always get a full no questions asked 6'5. Trust me nobody can see 1/8" that easily or 1/4". But he is a very good and very tall height. All I've said is that common sense (people here don't use it they just want to make everyone taller. People say I'm downgrading or
trolling. No I'm going off what I see on this page (below) and what I've heard from people who I know are reliably measured and in circles throughout the NBA. can't count how many times he's been called 6'4 range. Only One person on this page has put him above 6'5 and it's likely an oversight judging MJ with Magic or anyone else he never looks 6'5.5 like he gave him 196.6. btw, KROC also said "look I haven't met Jordan but people who have have described him as about 6'5 or a weak 6'5". That was on Barkley's page previously. KROC also called Kobe 6'5 for rounding purposes. Then said he's 194-195. That just means they're both closer to 6'5 than 6'4
Height said on 18/Jul/16
Jim describes him as 194.3 cm - 195 cm (6'4.5" initially and 6'4.75" on his latest comment)
Jean describes him as 196.6 cm (6'5.27")
KROC's fiends that have met him describe him as 195.6 cm (6'5")
Oscar describes him as 197 cm - 198 cm (6'5.57"- 6'5.95")
Gonzalo's cousin who didn't met him but saw him play (distance of seats unknown) about 194 cm - 195 cm (6'4.5" - 6'4.75")
There is one very weak claim form his baseball days, but doesn't sound credible since it was double posted with different user names and 6'3" is also thrown in.
Kobe is virtually the same size and isn't lower than 195 cm and evidence points that could be up to 195.5 cm at his lowest
There is more evidence that Jordan is closer to 195.6 cm (6'5") than to 194.3 cm (6'4.5"), especially from the people who have met him and think in centimeters.
He most probably wakes up at almost 198 cm and remains 197 cm - 196 cm the rest of the day. I can see 195.5 cm - 195 cm as lowest.

Penny: 6'6 (as listed)
Rodman: 6'6.5 (as listed)
Height: to your comment on Kobe's page I haven't met any of the above except Melo but I was an avid watcher and a breather of the NBA. Of course what I provided are all estimates (with the exception of Melo who is 6'6-6'6.25 I'd call him 198.5-198.8). I can't tell a 1/4" of two guys next to each other very well. Just how they appear to me on tv. But these guys you listed here are pretty close in my opinion.
Canson said on 3/Jul/16
@Height: I will say that while Miller does "stretch" sometimes I did hear MWP say he's 6'5 1/2. Don't know if it's his lowest but I can see him as no less than 196.2 (he looks marginally taller than Kobe like less than an inch and about 1.25-1.5 shorter than Matt Barnes). Miller estimated him to be between 6'5-6'6. So he was right on that one. Same with MJ where he estimated him to be somewhere between 6'4-6'5
Canson said on 3/Jul/16
@Height: I look at Jordan with legit 6'5s and he doesn't look as tall (like you mentioned he is taller than most "legit" 6'4s. He looks shorter than Rip Hamilton (who is 6'5 range based on pics I've seen def not 6'6).
Canson said on 2/Jul/16
@123: LOL! Are you joking here or smoking the funny stuff? Jordan is certifiably between 6'4-6'5 barefoot. They wouldn't list a guard 3" taller. (he was already tall for a 2 guard even being 6'4 1/2 barefoot in those days). I know people who have seen him in person to say he is 6'4-6'5. Now Height and I are arguing a 1/4" which is reasonable but he ain't 6'3 LOL! That'd mean every player and I mean every. Dennis Rodman would only be 6'5 if MJ is 6'3.25. Pippen would be 6'5-6'6. Not possible. Rodman is 6'6-6'6.5 and Pippen only a little taller 6'7"
Canson said on 2/Jul/16
@Height: I do agree with you on Reggie doing that. Remember he and Charles Barkley joked and called draymond 6'3 last year lol. But they were doing that being funny. As for Penny I can't see him as over 6'6. If he's a tad shorter than Melo (at least anything that any of us could conceivably see) he'd be a solid 6'6 being Melo was measured 6'6.25. I've met Melo and he looks the height they lost him (but I can see Melo waking to 6'7" or very close to it and not dropping below a full 6'6 maybe even the 6'6.25. As for Boozer, Reggie may have gone far but at the same time Boozer once said something to that effect that he was 6'6. But that from my memory was when he was at Duke. He said they billed him at 6'8 but he was really only 6'6. IMHO boozer may only be a solid 6'7-6'7.5. I have heard people refer to him as 6'7 like Kurt Rambis when the Lakers were looking at picking him up. Rambis mentioned that he's "short for a power forward at 6'7". But he isn't under 6'7 imho

Nice info but I wouldn't take Reggie Miller's opinions on height seriously (even on his height), he has always been exaggerated and a conspiracy theorist (always subtracting 2 inches from american players and adding 2 inches to european players). He once said that Kirilenko was 7'2", Larry Johnson 6'3" and Carlos Boozer 6'6". Reggie has always been a legit 198cm guy if you see him next to Majerle there is a legit 1 cm to 2 cm between them.
I have seen Penny enough and I can tell you that he is closer to 199 cm than to 198 cm. Melo is taller than him, but by just a tad, trust me.

Canson said on 1/Jul/16
@Height: Penny's pre draft lists him as a solid 6'6. But I'll be fair and say he could've been 1/8" over possibly because back in that draft I didn't see any 1/4" or 3/4" only 1/2 and full. I do know for some players (a friend of mine was a scout and still works closely with the league in some capacities) if they are slightly over they give them the full quarter or half and even others that may be .3 they will call them 1/2". He also said some get the in shoes height in the barefoot column occasionally (Vince Carter). I also wonder about John Wall as from people that have seen him he looks 6'2 ranfe in shoes not even close to 6'3. I doubt that was anything foul, it was more that he may have stretched for more and was measured in the morning early as I can believe he'd be 6'2 range in the AM. It's possible when they saw him that he was in casual shoes and not his sneakers and later in the day. The same people also met Bradley Beal and said he looks "slightly taller than one of them who is 6'2-6'2.5" which would make me think he's a weak 6'3 or maybe a full 6'3 (I honesty can see either for him) and makes sense if he was 6'3.25 in the morning.
I haven't seen Penny against enough 6'6 guys to know (only one who is close to 6'6" in Reggie Miller). I have seen him with Dennis Rodman and they look similar (I think Rodman is taller however) But on the same dime, Miller has also said before he is somewhere between 6'5 or 6'6 barefoot. I've heard him say it more than once. Once when he said MJ was between 6'4 and 6'5 and another time when He described a matchup with Antoine Walker and Ron artest and said Artest is "his height" around 6'5 or 6'6. If I had to be fair, I'd call Metta 6'5.25-6'5.5 and call Reggie 6'5 3/4 esp since he was listed 6'6 in college. Metta claimed 6'5 1/2 on Big Boi's neighborhood. So I'd give Penny 6'6. Melo looks taller (at least in my opinion). Melo's pre draft is 6'6.25
Canson said on 1/Jul/16
@Height: what I was saying about shoes is when he in public with someone else or against other players. The former with someone else, the shoe will make a difference. Not necessarily Stackhouse. I've never paid attention to Stackhouse's shoes but with Jordan I've owned many and I know many others who have who are taller in them.
Canson said on 1/Jul/16
@Height: Jordan wore a thick heel too though. As for the 6'4.5 Riley gave him he got that from inner circle. I never heard Knight say it. My guess is MJ measured that at his low (mid to late afternoon after most of the height is gone). Sprewell though (as is the case with Vince Carter) only has a barefoot measurement with no shoe measurement so that is suspect to me. In the Case of Carter, RJ said "Vince is 6'4 1/2, 6'5 on a good day, I take it as he's between 6'4.5-6'5. But an excerpt from a game when spree played for the Knicks when Pitino said he's 6'6. Sprewell said "I'm 6'4. I appreciate the extra inches." Someone I know and played men's league with is friends with him from high school and has seen him and confirmed he's "at most 6'4" or "about 6'4". I highly doubt he's any less think he was making a point tho to say he isn't 6'5 as he's listed on the roster. He told me that I look taller than him (of course we aren't standing next to each other and I'm thicker than Spree as well).
Height said on 30/Jun/16
@Canson
I get your point, but to me discussing shoes in this case is nonsense because Stackhouse wore Filas with thick soles. Nick Anderson is 6'4"alright, but not a flat one that is, most likely a weak 194 cm from what I've seen.
As for Penny, he's 6'6", but like Nick he's not a flat 6'6" he has always edged flat 6'6"players by a little, he is more a weak 199 cm guy as he always seemed very similar in height as Melo (Melo being just tad taller). That is 2 inches.
Horace always was about 1.5cm - 2cm taller than Harvey at about 205 cm, hence the difference with Anderson (almost 12 cm difference = 4.5 to 4.7 inches)
There is no actual record that MJ was 6'4.5" when drafted (or that he was measured at that) other than opinions of Basketball people like Pat Riley or Bobby Knight who could have said 6'4.5" of any player between 193.1 cm and 195.5 cm. In their eyes, all the Jordans, Andersons, Stackhouses, Sprewells,Houstons, etc are 6'4.5"...they see the general picture as they think in feet and inches and not cms, that is a fact for me as I've seen numerous times where the subtle height differences between players are ignored.
Canson said on 29/Jun/16
@Height: Stackhouse and Jordan look the exact same to me always. I've never seen a pic where stack is shorter than him. I've seen some where stack can look taller but he's the same height. If anything One may have an 1/8" on the other which we can never see. Jordan remember too wears high cut shoes. I have his sneaks and am close to 6'6 in them in one pair I have even at 6'4 3/8 at night. They're a good 1.4" easy. From pics I see of Jordan in public he looks my height (Colin Kapernick is similar height as well) and he looks similar to him so does Kobe. They all don't look as tall as Howard Stern or Cam Newton. They're legit 6'5s. And Jordan is also built the exact same way as I am too. Very long 36 inseam and avg torso. That automatically gives the impression he's taller. Believe me I've been asked if I'm 6'6 many a times in my life. I see a lot of 6'3 1/2 guys or 6'2.5 guys say 6'5 and 6'4 claiming their morning and shoes. Nick Anderson is about 6'4. i have to honor what he claimed. Penny looked 2" taller than him to me and saw pics with Grant and he was a good nearly 5" taller than Nick. I've never met Horace but have met his brother. Prob 6'8.5 looked 4" taller than me

Height: I guess anything is possible but if Jordan gets guessed at 6'4 by people close in size to him he def comes down below 195. To put in perspective there's no way he's as tall as Klitschko is. He's 198 out of bed and 196 at his low. 197 is 6'5 5/8. And a strong 197 is 6'5 3/4-7/8. I'd air more toward 196.2 from bed maybe 196.5 (6'5 3/8) the latter would mean he'd be in the 7/8" category for height loss and with his build I can't see that. I see 196.2/194.4 at his lowest esp when he was 6'4.5 when drafted
Canson said on 29/Jun/16

But I can see him as 6'5.25 maybe 6'5 3/8 (absolute max) out of bed and getting down to 6'4 1/2-5/8. He would be more while maybe not low 194 maybe a high 194. And 6'4 1/2 is very very tall. @Canson I agree at MJ not being a full 6'5" (195.6 cm) at night, but considering that he can be a strong 197 cm during the day, and he genuinely looks more than 2 cms taller than legit 193 cm people, I think the absolute lowest he can drop at night is inside the 195.5 cm - 195 cm range (very similar to Kobe).
Interesting facts about your height!
Canson said on 27/Jun/16
Height I agree on the metric system being better. I'm not saying Jordan can't measure 6'4.75 earlier in the day but I think he would be 6'4.5 or my height (6'4 3/8-.42)at his lowest. In fact I firmly believe he'd still be 6'4.75 two hours out of bed and 6'4.5 at night. he and Stackhouse along with Kobe all look 6'4.5 and they can even look shorter than Carter as well or same height. 6'4.5 is very possible for Jordan 194.5 which is why some people even 6'2+ guys have said he's 6'4 others 6'5. That really is dependent on what time of day that specific person describing him measured and how much (degree of rounding) the person does. I often get 6'5 more than I do 6'4 (at 194.5)
Height said on 25/Jun/16
@Canson
Like I said on another thread, I think 6'4.5"and 6'4.75" are interchangeable, and 6'4.5" is one of the common ways for Basketball people (in USA at least) to refer to anyone who is between 193 and 195.5 cm. That is why I'm an advocate of the metric system.
I once believed MJ could be as low as 194 cm 194.5 cm as full grown pro, especially considering that Barkley looked 1cm - 1.5cm taller than him most of the time, but then after carefully comparing him again with other players who are legit 6'6" (Reggie Miller or Penny Hardaway who is actually more like Melo's height at 6'6.25") he honestly seemed like a flat 6'5"guy.
MJ is no way shorter than 195 cm or 195.5cm, he genuinely edged legit 6'4" players by about an inch (thinking guys like Mitch Richmond). Or how he edged player that are true 194 cm like Nick Anderson or Jerry Stackhouse by a little less than half an inch (about 1cm).

I believe he was 6'4" when he was still in high school and then he continued growing during his first 2 college years. In the NBA he always seemed 1 inch taller than legit 6'4" guys.

Editor Rob
some can make it to that age without any noticeable loss (apart from a few mm's), while others really can look like they've lost 0.5-1 inch. I wouldn't have said Jordan looked to have lost much.
Canson said on 3/Jun/16
@Sal agree with most of what u said. But him saying Rodman is half inch taller than him I heard him say the same but it was to illustrate that Rodman really isn't "6'9 260 he's 6'6 220 in Jordan's words". Jordan is comparing his listed height in the league (his shoe height rounded up) to Rodman's legit barefoot height (Rodman is prob 199cm 6'6-6'6.5)
Sal said on 2/Jun/16
My food for thought. He always looked the same height as Barkley, occasionally taller, usually slightly shorter. He was described by those who looked at him in the NBA draft as a 6'4" guy as opposed to a 7'1" Bowie, which doesn't look correct when you saw him next to Ralph Sampson who was exaggerated 7'4". The Olympic measurement we can't verify said 6'4.88" And Michael Jordan described Rodman as being a half inch taller at 6'6" and at North Carolina I saw a roster with him listed at 6'5.5" so I'm saying the 6'5" estimate sounds about right. The picture of him with Russell though makes me wonder how much height he would have lost. He regularly looks 6'10" to 6'11" with modern listed guys and he was measured at 6'9 and 5/8" but wanted to be rounded down. If Russell was around 6'8.5" now that would make Jordan closer to 6'4" or so as per your comment on the height difference Rob.

Canson, how can you be so sure? Have you met him?
Many people claim what you say, but many others similar in height claim he is a legit 6'5 guy, which I believe. Honestly he doesn't seem as low as 194cm (maybe at age 17/18 or so). The absolute lowest I see MJ is at 195cm-195.5 cm and during the day he certainly gives the impression of being a full 6'6", so I don't see why he can't be at 197cm at his highest.
Canson said on 25/May/16
@Rampage: a little off on this one. But close. He's 196 out of bed and 194 at night. He's the same as me (a hair over 6'5 out of bed, 6'4.5 afternoon and maybe 6'4.4 or so at his lowest). You get people close in height to him describing him as 6'4 pretty regularly. He isn't that low but he spends time in both ranges during the day to get classified as both

DRE: very well said! I agree. And I know it is debatable. we're in the same ballpark with the mid to high 6'4", so no argument! Also agree about Vince. He's the same height as the 3 guys you mentioned as well as Kobe. RJ said during his biography for dunking that he's 6'4 1/2, (6'5 on a good day) so right on the money there too.
DRE said on 21/Jan/16
Canson,
Of course all of this is debatable, but I truly think that's about 4 inches between him and Federer. Maybe just under 4 inches, but not less than 3 and a half.
If he is 6-4 3/4 or 6-4 7/8 that is irrelevant to me as both are still the same height (with just millimeters in difference), and still puts him at a 3 and 3/4 inch or 4 inch difference with Roger Federer.
Both Stackhouse and Nick Anderson where fractions shorter than MJ. MJ always edeged Stackhouse by a fraction and of course on some angles they appear the same, but the actual truth is that MJ edged him by a fraction, just the same way as Vince Carter (about 6'4.8-.9 ) edges MJ by a fraction.
Canson said on 20/Jan/16
@DRE: I'll split the diff between you and Matthew and say 3-4. def not a full 4 tho. 6'4.5-.75 is about right which makes him just about what you said in your last post, a weak 6'5 (1/4" isn't noticeable on anyone). Not a full 6'5 but between 6'4-6'5 as people like Reggie Miller have said about him. And remember in his shoes he wears (high sole and basketball shoes both) he will be almost a legit 6'6 coming out of that range barefoot.

He clearly looks 4 inches taller than Roger Federer like Height said...that's what 4 inches / 4 and half inches looks in real life.
I just don't see him as a 6'4 and a half guy...I believe that was his height coming out of high school and then grew slightly more. Plus the guy looks 6'6"/ 6'7" in real life, and tad taller than real 6'4 and a half guys like Nick Anderson or Jerry Stackhouse. So just a hair under 6'5 or a flat 6'5 sounds about right.

Just curious. Is the 6'4.75 a measurement after you've been on your feet a while or is that a measurement early in the morning? Just curious to see how MJ would compare to me because all 3 of us are probably similar in height (I'm about 6'4 1/2 if I were to measure late in the day maybe early evening, pretty much a weak 6'5).

BUT I must point out that James was a better jumper.MJ vertical leap is listed as 48" but actually it's only 43" (8'10" hands up with 12'5" as the highest reach).James has a 44"vertical leap.
Obviously some qualities of MJ are simply present in every player, one can't take those qualities as decisive since they aren't measurable but you summarized quite well the player,in one word the best.

some guys will reach his age with minimal/negligible height lost, while others I think can look 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch under what they did...maybe in their 40's, some lifestyle changes or wear and tear has a toll and they ship over half inch by early 50's.

If Barkley is 6'4.75" (195 cm) then Jordan should be downgraded to 6'4.25" (193.5 cm). Otherwise, at peak height it could be Barkley : 6'5" flat (196 cm) and Jordan 6'4.5" (194.5 cm) as stated by Pat Riley.

I'd say rodman is 6'5.5-6'6 barefoot since 6'6.5 seems to be his height in shoes as he has claimed that numerous times. And remember pippen was drafted at 6'6 1/2 barefoot and 6'7.5 (shoes). Pip is closer to 6'7 tho barefoot and is taller than both Jordan and rodman.if you look at the picture of the 96 all star team below that was used to compare pippen and Jordan, pip isn't much taller than penny and Reggie miller so he may still be in the high 6'6 range

Chris said on 20/Oct/14
Charles Barkley was well over 6'7 in his police
Mugshots. He's almost 6'8 in them. Shoes add about an inch. So Barkley is probably close to 6'7 flat footed. Barkley is about half an inch taller than Jordan in photos. An inch at the very most. It's pretty obvious Jordan is close to 6'6 if not over it
Editor Rob
Barkley looks as if he's looking down a bit at the camera, so it's a given that his mugshot is adding height.

Jordan, in my opinion, is a very strong 6'5" flat. His height was never more deceiving than when he tried to play baseball. His legs are so long, he was so lean (just over 3% body fat in his prime, NOT NOW!) and he has a 7 feet wingspan. Those features made him appear to be much taller than 6'5." As most people know, he also has absurdly large hands. Those huge hands hanging off super long arms also made him appear longer. I remember when he used to rebound basketballs in a full palming motion. Very very few NBA players can come close to doing that. Finally, most of MJ's footwear choices make him look, if anything, shorter b/c they are usually low heels, especially in dress shoes. He's a tall guy, with even taller features, but still noticeably shorter than former similarly sized teammates, Pippen and Rodman. I grew up idolizing this guy but from lawyers that I know in D.C., I hear that he is a straight-up egomaniac jerk. Also, a terrible NBA General Manager and identifier of talent. Ironically, he is the best of all-time on the court but that's about where it ends. His riches are not a fluke but they are nowhere near his creation. Faulk, his agent, is to thank for just about everything. Finally, no accusations toward MJ, because I don't know if this is true at all....but I have heard, from unnamed people in the know, that he read at a 3rd grade level when he got to Carolina. I hope that is not true. Majored in Geography, which is where I heard that UNC puts all of their academically-challenged athletes. Once MJ made the NBA and people realized that he was so good, Nike and the Bulls hired a swarm of people to further educate and polish him up for being a commercial-making, product-selling god. Despite all the bad things I've head about MJ, the kid in me will always idolize him. 6'6" in his frequently worn golf shoes.

All photos including the dream team, team picture indicate Bird is 1.5 to 2" bigger than magic. I think magic was 6'7" at best. This would put bird height at what you said.I also think from seeing rodman/pippen/jordan photos that rodman appears to be 1.5" bigger than jordan and 1.5" smaller th

Barkley in his police mugshot is nearly 6'8! He was obviously in his shoes. But that means he's obviously 6'6 barefoot. He's probably taller than that in fact.
Jordan is about 0.5 inches shorter than Barkley in most pictures. So he's obviously between 6'5.5 and 6'6

I'd say you are in the ball park but every video or photo I've seen with Jordan and Barkley, Barkley is about a half inch taller. If Jordan is 6'5" then that would make Barkley 6'5.5" as he claims he is. If Jordan is 6'4" which is what the olympics measured him at then it would make Barkley 6'4 and 5/8" which is what the olympics measured him at.

Yeah, Lorne. I think these big guys do loose at least an inch from morning to evening so they could be 6'6 in the morning and a little under 6'5 in the night?
Lorne said on 2/Jul/13
Rob, is it possible that big guys like Jordan, Barkley and Kobe could lose up to 4cm in a day? It is just mind boggling. MJ was measured 6ft4.88(or somewhere round there) which would make him 195cm evening, yet he looks legit 6ft5, and indeed you upgraded him from 194cm to 196cm. Kobe was supposedly measured 194-195cm(can't remember which) yet clearly is a 6ft5 guy. Barkley I believe is the 195cm he is listed at(though can look taller) so his measurement is legit. But MJ and Kobe are both taller than they're measurements. Could it be they vary more than a regular person? For example, Jenny can drop under 5'8 at night, yet wakes up 5ft9. Could it be Jordan is a guy who measures over 6'6 out of bed and drops to 195cm evening???

MJ is 6' 6", yes, when he wears shoes like everybody else. He has mentioned that Dennis Rodman is half an inch taller in one of the youtube videos, you'd figure the man who has been with Rodman in person from 95-98 with the Chicago Bulls would truly know that for himself. I guess we should tak his word for it and upgrade MJ's height to 6' 6"? if Rodman was listed 6' 6.5" before on this site.
Lo sgozzatore said on 20/Jun/13

Lorne said on 19/Jun/13
Thank you! I always thought Kobe was actually close to his 6'6 listing, he has a good 4 inches on Steve Nash, and can look near 5 inches taller. I can Believe a 6ft4.75in measurement, but he honestly looks 6'5, and 6'4.5 is clearly too low. And I haven't seen any evidence of this measurement, aside from anecdotal. Kobe isn't less than 195cm, and he honestly looks 6'5.

Taken from the Charles Barkley Thread:
For most Basketball players, take their listed height and remove 1,5 inches and you will have much closer to their true height.
For those that are over 7ft, usually there is not much tampering with their height and they get listed at their true heights.
Example: Manute Bol was 7ft 6.75 in, they listed him at 7ft 7in. Had they listed him at 7ft 9in, Guiness World Records would have refuted it, since they also measured, Mr. Bol.
Basketball players (at all levels) height's are measured first without their shoes and then with them, their listed height is based on their height with shoes rounded to the nearest inch.
In his book, I May Be Wrong but I Doubt It, Barkley states his 6ft 4.75in height. This is consistent with his US Olympic 1992 Measurement, and with his previous statements. Also it is identical to Michael Jordan's measurement and Jordan himself stated in a video that they were the same height.
So at 6ft 4.75in, he is still taller than 99.5% of the world population.
