austin is leaning to one side thus losing height there...
vince 2 inches taller than austin doesn't make sense given rock had about 2.5 inches on vince in the late 90s and rock didn't have 4-4.5 inches on austin around that time.
i met austin a number of times between 2002 and 2008 (admittedly after his neck fusion surgery which cost him a full year of his career) but he looked around 184cm in person..that would place vince around 185cm in late 90s

Yes, he has shrunk a lot. Was easily over 6'1" at his peak, but just look at poor Roddy Piper. He was at least 6'1" himself at his peak and today, due to having part of his spine removed and hip replacements, he's looking MAX 5'8" today. Wrestling is a brutal game. There are no winners. or Vince is 3.5 taller than Tyson?
Omid said on 3/Dec/14
He may have been 6'1 (that I'm not sure about) but that nasty neck and spine injury have definitely had a toll on his overall height, so 6 foot or just below 6 foot could be the spot on for Austin provided that he was 6'1, so was he 6'1 barefoot before his incident?
Tallone said on 12/Nov/14
I did the math on that mugshot, and 10 units looks like 10 cm or about 4 inches, since it covers about half his head. It looks like his 193 cm in that shot, which is 75.98", or just under 6'4". That seems a little tall. I guess he is wearing boots of some sort. They couldn't add more than 2", so I'm thinking at least 6'2" flat-footed. The units to the right of the pic, with the labels hidden from view, are inches. Since the metric units are in increments of 2, 2 cm = 0.79 in, which is consistent with the proportions in the picture. Inches have bold lines every three units, which is consistent with 12 inches in a foot, or quarter foot increments. The shot just happens to be centered more towards the metric side of a dual measurement wall.

As a wrestler becomes more and more popular, they get billed at a height really close to their real one (well except for Hogan lol) due to all the appearances and comparison opportunities. Height181, injuries may have caused a bit of height but he's turning 50 this year. A bit of natural height loss has happened but only a fraction. Id be surprised if he has lost a full inch

Height181, HBK I'd give 5'11 peak. Today 5'10-5'10.5. At WM 21 looked a bit taller than 5'9.75-5'10 Kurt Angle. HBK looked a bit shorter or about the same as Bret Hart in the 90's. Not sure on Bret hart's height either
SaveUsY2J said on 28/Jul/14
At his peak he was never under 6'1 and I doubt he's much under that today, if at all. A peak Bret "Hitman" Hart was 6'0 as seen next to Rob, and Austin was noticeably taller than him. He had more than an inch on 5'11" Shawn Michaels in 1998 as well, and HBK always wore boots that would give a similar height boost to those of Austin.
Even in recent photos, he isn't much shorter than Goldberg, who was a legit 6'2.5 in his prime though may be down to 6'2 flat nowadays.
Attitude said on 28/Jul/14
Hey Alex, if Austin was 6 feet or a bit above, what would that make Bret and Shawn? Since Bret looked to be about half an inch to an inch shorter and Shawn looked easily 2 inches smaller. Shawn was an avid wearer of high heeled boots and Bret wore sneakers.
Alex 6'0 said on 27/Jul/14
Austin was a constant boot wearer so that would give a bit more height. He could pull off 6'1 legit but was he ever 6'1? I don't know. Probably not. He is turning 50 this year so at least a fraction he's lost. But in his wrestling career 6'0-6'0.5 looks right. Whatever he was Rock was 2 inches taller, HHH 1-1.5 inches taller during their days in WWF/WWE. 6'0 Austin puts Rock 6'2 range and HHH 6'1.5 range

I'm aware Punk is listed 5ft11.75, but I think 5ft11.5 max(I'm splitting hairs, I know) yeah, 181cm is my "official" listing for RVD, but I wouldn't rule out flat 5'11(but not less). I was just saying that I think both listings are generous, if only a quarter or half inch. I think Austin is legit 6'1 though:) (and yeah, glad Goldberg was upgraded, that had bothered me for years!)
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 12/Jan/14
Punk is actually listed 5ft11.75, Lorne. Austin could look about 2in taller. I wouldn't put RVD less
than a solid 5ft11 and a fraction over that is more likely. Goldberg edged out Lesnar so I agree with you there that he's 6ft2.5 minimum. Austin looked shorter during that match but was in sneakers.
Also, I just came across old an old 90s clip. Do any of you guys remember a wrestler by the name of Brian Pillman? He was billed 6ft by WWF but in football was listed 5ft10, which is probably closer. Austin always towered over him.
Lorne said on 9/Jan/14
Rampage: CM Punk is no more than 5ft11.5, look at him with Shawn Michaels, who certainly isn't over 5'11 today. And I think better chance 5ft11 for RVD than the 5ft11.5 listing, I give him 5ft11.25 at best. So 6'1 for Austin is fair, but I still can't see Goldberg less than 6ft2.5, he doesn't as well as Austin. Austin looks 6"1"-6"2" for definite if Punk's 5"11.75"(182cm) and RVD's 5"11.5"(182cm) are accurate. I think 186cm is strong possibility, possibly 187cm. He definitely held his own with Triple H and Brock Lesnar (both 6"2"-6"3") in the Attitude Era aswell as with The Rock (6"3"-6"4")
Ajax said on 5/Jul/13
You have to realize that most guys who claim their 6'1" are actually not that tall unlike Austin
who's actually that tall. My friend told me he was 6'1" and that I was 6'3". I measured him at just under 6' (5'11.75") and I'm 6'2". So in essence, most people don't realize that a true
6'1er is actually pretty ample in height.

I could actually buy anything up to 275 lb for his current size but I think he looks at least 18 stone which is 252 pounds and probably more 19 stone. And he looks more bad ass with the bald head!
Shaun said on 24/Aug/12
@Alex and Danimal. Yeah he's massive. In the latest xxx film he looks 250-260 lbs of solid muscle. Indeed back to his old wrestling size but less body fat, huge.
Alex said on 10/Aug/12
Danimal, there were a couple movies he looked maybe 220lbs tops but movies like Rundown and Walking tall he was closer to 250lbs but those movies were in 03-04 not long after he stopped wrestling fulltime in 2002. The movie the Game Plan he looked below 220lbs
Danimal said on 9/Aug/12

Danimal, yea that makes sense. Rock was usually smaller in size in his movies other than the Scorpion King where he was 260. He looks to be back to his old wrestling size again but more cut though!
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 8/Aug/12
I think Goldberg's peak height was 280lbs and definitely
the most jacked up. I think The Rock was 5-10lbs lighter at
his heaviest (pre-WWF career), then after he retired from wrestling
withered down to 230lbs. But now is back up to 260lbs (give or take).
No offense to The Rattlesnake but a fair bit of his mass has turned into fat.
Not in great shape. But he was never a typically ripped guy. Just big, blocky
muscles. Upper end of 250lbs.

For real. The Rock, is big time jacked now (looks to be 260-265 pounds). Truthfully, so does Austin look to be that weight. I'm sure he's minimum 255 pounds today. Funny, Goldberg used to be by far the most built of all 3 (290 + pounds legit) and he's looking to be the smallest today (max 265-270 pounds imo).

I've done a few measurement in the past right out of bed and was in the 6'0.75-6'1 range but that height you lose right away anyway. I've never been taller than 6'0.25 in the afternoon/evening. 6'2 217lbs is a good weight. I weigh 187lbs currently but I've cut down from a solid 205. I was already in good shape, just wanted to cut up more. But I'll rebulk sometime next month back up to at least 205-210
Ajax said on 6/Aug/12
Have no idea. I'd guess probably 6'2.5-.75". I weigh 217lbs and have a size 14 USA which is a little large for my height IMO. I think depending on your foot wear and posture, you can fool someone into
thinking your maybe 1.5" taller than you are. I mean, the hair over 6'5" challenger fooled people into
thinking he was 6'6"-6'7"
Alex said on 5/Aug/12
Ajax, haha yea thats true. Though some 6'2 guys claim 6'4. I could claim 6'2 but some would and wouldn't question it. If I claimed 6'1 from now on 99% of people wouldn't question it. You're a legit 6'2 guy. What are you out of bed and midday?
Ajax said on 4/Aug/12
@Alex
I agree. Basically %99 of men add 1-2" of height. I'm 6'1 7/8" at my low and usually at 6'2" and people think I'm 6'3" and 6'4". But Alex, haven't you noticed most guys 6'2" and up usually don't exaggerate their height? We should claim 6'2" "the height exaggeration cut-off!" :)
Alex said on 2/Aug/12
Alot of guys who are 6'0 and even some 5'11 will claim 6'1 so it can make a legit 6'1 guy look 6'2-6'3. I am 6'0 at my low and 6'1 is the height I get guessed at most often

Usually they will say the taller the wrestler the bigger the build but not always true. Kane billed at 7'0 but 6'8 max but Big Show billed at 7'0 and looks within an inch of that height. I do remember HHH was billed at 6'5 in WCW then 6'4 in WWF. I think he claimed 6'3 though?

I think that wrestlers do on average get padded by two inches. An exception seems to be 6'1" types, who from my experience usually get billed as 6'2" ("only" one inch padded).
Then there are a few who get padded even more (Triple H original billing was 6'5") or have, at least close to, their actual heights billed.

the attitude era was not centrered around jumping off titantrons or 15 foot cages and Danimal you must be talking about Droz who had he's neck brocken after another perfomer(D lo) tried to do a running powerbomb on him and he could not get a good grip on Droz cos he was wearing a lose shirt and a fan had thrown a drink into the ring so D lo brown sliped and Droz landed awkwardly and became paraplegic(so how is that Att'de Era fault?) The Atti'de Era had the best perfomers, story lines came from all angles(not just around world H'vy weight chmpionship title and John cena) Divas were actually "wrestlers" the acting was convincing, the tag teams were legendary while at the same time WWF/E was "Kid friendly".

I started watching wrestling with WWF in 1991-1992 but got more into it by 93-94. I grew up with it in the late 90s-early 2000s when the attitude era was at its best. By 04-06 to me it wasn't quite as good but still enjoyable enough to way but by 07-08 I just got out of it. By that time I felt it was for a new generation of kids. By 07-08 I was 23-24 years old and a lot of it was meant for kids in their teens I felt. A lot of my fave guys were either gone or weren't doing much anymore
I think the WWE become kinda boring in 2001-2002 which is when i lost interest in it. The years 1997-2000 were the most enjoyable for me even though i was very young.
I remember just like it was yesterday 12 years ago that i would tune into too WWE smackdown every saturday morning on sky1. Also i would VERY much enjoy watching WCW every friday night on TNT. WCW Thunder was good as well.

Legend, yea Austin is known for his chunky boots that can give him a taller appearance but 5'11.5 for him I really doubt. I'd put him at 6'0.5 before 5'11.5 but barefoot I think hes 6'0-6'0.25 range

Danimal in 2011 Vince McMahon seems not so much off a tryant like he used too be in the attitude era. Would u not agree? The guys getting old now so its understandable.
Remember that infamous incident in 1998 when a fan threw a battery at shawn michaels and he walked off letting down loads of fans? In an interview Vince stated that he was less than impressed by shawns behaviour.

I knew I wasn't crazy to think he looked 5'11.5

james he is starting to lose height slowly anyway by the normal aging process but your question is his spinal stenosis leading to him losing more height, answer is i don't know, he mentioned that his condition will deteriorate with time not get better so that doesn't sound to good
for the fans that keep saying "wwe should bring back the attitude era" they should have a look at guys like edge, benoit, jeff hardy, kurt angle, steve austin etc and see what jumping off 20ft cages, titantrons, getting speared off ladders, taking unprotected chairshots to the head etc every night did for those guys, jerry lawler is now in his 60s and still wrestling couple of nights a week while edge sits at home unable to ever wrestle again and he is not even 40
What about that young wrestler who is now a paraplegic. I think he took over the role of one half of the Road Warriors? Then we have Mick Foley who has stated in several recent interviews that he has sustained so many concussions from chair shots to the head, that he has permanent brain damage and his whole think process is foggy (very scary stuff). Mick Foley was known for his intelligence. Now even that is gone due to the attitude era. Then we can look at Owen Hart who is DEAD. The list goes on and Vince McMahon takes no responsibility whatsoever for any of these tragedies.

Does that mean edge is going too die?
I LOVED the attitude era it was great. also used too really enjoy WCW Nitro everyday friday night when i was 9 or 10 years old.
give it half a decade and we might see a new better era in the WWE. I wish they would change the design for the current WWE arenas :(

We were lucky to have witnessed the attitude era guys. JR announcing. All the hardcore matches. Stone cold, the Rock, Mankind, Masked Kane, Undertaker. Great times. It feels so empty now.

Vegas, you're right. Attitude era has been gone since the early 2000s. Most will say the attitude era was from 98-03
