Sly looks an inch taller than DeNiro and is about 2 inches shorter than Liotta in CopLand, so 5'9 sounds right.

Yeah, there's no doubt he's put lifts in those shoes, Zach. Either that, or he had them made with lifts in them. Those are definitely shoes he wore quite a bit around Rocky Balboa and Rambo when he looked his tallest and seemed to never go without lifts. The question is what are the biggest lifts that will fit in Hogan shoes.
I'm surprised at how tall he looks there with Couture. He hasn't really looked as tall as he did 4+ years ago recently, but there he looks as tall as ever. I do have some doubts about Couture being 6'0", Sly seems to generally not look that much shorter than him even in normal looking shoes. He looks a bit taller in that picture actually, though it could be the angle or some illusion.

Google image Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland. Sutherland (6'3.5 peak) had an easy 2 inches on Connery and Eastwood still edged out Sutherland in Kelly's Heroes.. And 6 ft 2 full is still believable for Connery. To think Eastwood only had half an inch on Connery is wrong, sorry.

I thought Stallone was getting super secret custom elevator footwear made but very surprised to see that he's apparently wearing footwear available to the public, albeit on the expensive side.

To me sly today when in normal dress shoes looks 5'8.5-9 in range when in his elevator sneakers that to me give nô more than 2.5 hé looks 5'10-10.5 range and through the whole ex2 film hé looks 5'9.75 in range like 1-2cm on statham and just 1 in under 5'11 Willis in some pics you CAN see his boots they look in the 1.3 in range and considering his foot pose hé might have just 1 in lift , i am sure on many occasion sly wears 1 in lifts inside hogan shoe type or thick boots wish give him 2.2-2.3 in on rare occasion hé might have shoes that give 2.75 ,

Good find, Zach, I stand corrected. The difference in those stills seems to large for them to have been similar in height that night, in the stills, it looks like it's over 2 inches. The high angle and far shot at the end as well as possibly Leno's posture must have fooled me because I was thinking there was no more than an inch difference between them. Though admittedly, I was sitting back in my chair, and not wearing my contact lenses.
Unfortunately, I went to look at the entire video on youtube, and both uploaders who posted it had their videos removed.
As far as footwear, the heel is fairly big, my best guess is 1.25", but they are dress shoes and the ankle position does look normal, though admittedly, I'm not that confident on judging if someone is wearing lifts or not by that.

Then in 2005 a mysterious fraudster popped up on here claiming he worked on the Avenging Angelo set with Sly and that he'd measured Sly as 5'10. At this point Slys listing here went up to 5'9.75. Once Rob clocked on the guy was a hoax Sly's listing went back down to 5'9 in late 2005/early 2006 where's it's stayed ever since. Ring any bells Rob? :)

Then in 2005 a mysterious fraudster popped up on here claiming he worked on the Avenging Angelo set with Sly and that he'd measured Sly as 5'10. At this point Slys listing here went up to 5'9.75. At Zach , He lost height as he is looking barely 5'9 with Leno ... He does have decent heels on those shoes , if you look at his placement he does not have lifts indside these shoes . He would measure under 5'10 in those shoes so now he is under 5'9 barefoot .

Looking at Expendables premiere pictures, his height varies too much for me to draw a conclusion on what he appears there which is why I've kind of given up on pictures. He looks about average there in dress shoes, but who knows what he has inside the dress shoes?

But after they interview, they looked similar height, harder to tell since I think it was a higher angle and a farther shot, though. From what I remember he appeared to have dress shoes on, but again without x-ray vision that still leaves a question.
I do often get the impression that Sly has lost a half inch to an inch, but I'm not sure how much that has to do with him seeing him to alternate between dress shoes and his trademark elevators in the Expendables era, while from probably 2004-2008, I don't think I saw him in dress shoes once. i stood next him in a vegas shop while a was picking up a suit im 5'3 with 5inch heels on, he had cow boy boots on and he looked the same height as me, i was a bit star struck,he looks so much bigger in movies, mind you his body, arms, etc looked great, he was buying another pair of boots :)

I stood next to Sly S. in Miami. He is around 5'- 6" max w/o lifts or shoes. I am 5'-9" no shoes. He is a little guy! You can't tell by photos or by the way they film people as they shoot from low. He is proportioned like a bigger guy, but sadly not.

Rob , i do weight training 2-3 week just biceps and shoulders exercise , since m'y parent are both diabetics , weight lifting and good diet is good to prevent diabètes i also do spinning ( Home cycling ) 4-5 Times a week for cadio training , for biceps i lift 25-30 pounds in each hand and for shoulders 22-24 pounds , is that called heavy weight lifting and does this kind of weight Putt lots of pressure on spine answer if you CAN , i use to be 293 pounds now i am 228-231

Editor Rob it is not impossible to lose only a small amount at that age if you maintain a good spine, but natural wear and tear and disc degeneration effects people differently.

Editor Rob I think in this case, the photographer helped him look taller - when you shoot very close with a wide angle lense and in portrait (vertical) mode, even a couple inches nearer to the camera can make a lot of difference.

Regarding this 5'6, 5'7 rubbish, Sly's arms would look a lot shorter and stocky if he was only 5'7. Even when he was completely huge on hgh, his arms and limbs looked in proportion to a 5'8.5 - 5'9 man's body.

Good pictures, BUT there is no limit as to what sly could do to his footwear to make himself look taller. the following pictures, which i found from an asian website show a guy, who is listed at 178/179 cm or so, revealing the secrets behind his footwear.

i don't believe stallone's footwear help ends at just his lifts, which, from a naked eye, look to give 2-3 inches. combined with his lifts and big insoles like the ones from the link inside, he could easily gain 5 inches without looking absolutely clumsy. thus, even in the pics with sly wearing "tennis shoes," he could still be getting 3 inch lifts from his insoles.

Hi Guys. Its no secret That Sly does wear lifts. Besides,many guys and girls, specialy celebrities are wearing them at the red carpet events! As far as his body he is bigger, due to the HGH he consumes which has bulked him up more than ever before in his life. You add extra inches in height to that bulky body and wualla! you get a 6' Body builder type guy. If he is even 5'6- 5'8 with these shoes he will defenitly be 5'10-6'00 tall. Click Here

Hi Guys. Its no secret That Sly does wear lifts. Besides,many guys and girls, specialy celebrities are wearing them at the red carpet events! As far as his body he is bigger, due to the HGH he consumes which has bulked him up more than ever before in his life. You add extra inches in height to that bulky body and wualla! you get a 6' Body builder type guy. If he is even 5'6- 5'8 with these shoes he will defenitly be 5'10-6'00 tall. Click Here

Photos like that are why I always held the belief that Stallone would measure 6'1" in elevators, particularly the first 2 where he seems to have no effect advantage. Why I've dropped that belief is because he'd probably have to be a legit 5'10" to accomplish that and photos like the liftless ones Dural posted make that seems nearly impossible.
That's why 5'9"/5'9.5" makes sense to me, you have to go by what he looks on average because Sly's height is extremely inconsistent and a mystery. The fact is that there are pictures where 5'10"+ looks impossible like Dural's pictures and pictures where 5'8" looks impossible like the ones above. I don't know how tall Sly is, but if he's 5'8" flat then how is that he looks taller than a man who is atleast 5'11" and why does he look taller than Tom Jones so easily? I don't buy that he's getting 4 plus inches of lift in his shoes. At 5'9" or 5'9.5" he'd be 6'0" or 6'0.5" in his biggest elevators and with the effect he could pass for a legit 6 footer in some pictures.

Frank, do you think SLy has had the leg lengthening operations? I wouldn't be surprised because his height estimations from the 70's all are around 5'7"-8" region. There is no denying nowadays he can sometimes look 6ft+, the Joe Calzaghe pictures and Jonathan Ross interview show that. I don't think his lifts would be able to add that much height. Was there a period in the 90's where he went missing for a while, during which time he could have had such an operation undertaken, and then recovered?

I've never seen Sylvester Stallone looking short, not even in the photographs posted by some guys discussing his height on this page. I don't think he's (or at least was in his prime) less than 1.75m, as Rob lists him.

If you look at Rocky4 they're almost the same height. But in the most recent film Stallone looks a good 3 inches or so taller. Obviously Young has shrunk(but so too should've Stallone at his age). He must have stilts on these days, or something.

He's short but 5' 8.5" plus "effect". If he wears NYC sandals next to 5' 6" people with "full effect" he can look tall, especially if you claim your height is 5' 8" under your photo for 2 years.
