I think the average guess is being a bit harsh tbh. Can understand why many would guess him shorter than this. The fact his proportions make him look shorter and he also wears lifts, it would be very easy to assume he must must as low as 5'6. Overall though, 5'8ish seems alright for him. Not sure whether he's shrunk, but considering his age and amount of injuries and surgeries to his back, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think so.

@7272 yeah I thought maybe 5'11 as well. 5'8 peak is probably right though. Another height that surprised me for some reason is David Walliams, thought he was maybe 5'10-6'0 at first but he's well over 6'0

I've always felt the character of Lord Farquaad from Shrek must have been inspired by Simon Cowell. He sits on a booster seat during AGT and walks very daintily if he ever has to leave it. There was one particular episode when he was called upon to be part of an act and at one point the performer went to touch his feet and he went ballistic and stormed off the stage. It seems obvious he's hiding huge lifts under those flared trousers. I wouldn't give him anything over 5'6 at the very most, probably more like 5'5.

His feet look like a size 3 length. But that’s because he’s always hiding a 45 degree slope and massive lifts under his tailored oversized slightly too long flares. He always does that, must be such a pain every time he goes out.

The most noticeable thing about this guy is the way he walks, as though he has women's stilletos on and is afraid of falling over. Of course he has the equivalent of a 3" heel hidden away, and struggles to walk at a decent pace with these Stacks on. Ironically his legs still look short even with this extra help. 5' 6.5" absolute max un-stacked.

This requires a downgrade...
Do an image search on Cowell without foot ware. It will come up with Images of him strolling barefoot with his 5ft 6 girlfriend.
If you look at his feet, the rear heel is way off the ground and the front foot in mid stroll clear of the ground but he his still not quite making her height.
In another shot he looks an inch shorter as his foot now flat down. Ok she is wearing 1/2 inch sandals but she looks to have a distinct edge.
Now go to other street images of him in footware, routinely looking 2 inches taller than her but her ina good inch heel..
This guy has to be lifting into 3 inch territory. Say 2 inch cubans and 1 inch lift. The reason for the bell bottom jeans....
Its a shame really, he looks normal size in upper body in the LA street stroll pic his legs look like a dwarfs..

I've just read that 'Britain's Got Talent' finalist Pippa Langhorne's talented dog Buddy was hit by a van yesterday, and Pippa is devastated. The young lady is trying to raise funds for Buddy. I'm sure Simon, who loves dogs, will come to Pippa's and Buddy's rescue.
I hope the poor dog makes a full recovery. 🤞🐶💓

I have no idea how tall she is (someone below mentioned 169cm) but the telling thing are the photos of them both while she is wearing large heels (which should give her 3 inches). He is still often significantly taller than her in these heels when he is also wearing footwear!! How is this even possible?? Im afraid this is wrong and hes finally been rumbled ..Do a search on Simon Cowell in bare feet...He was filmed with his 1.69 girlfriend in his bare feet and her wearing flip flops of a similar brand to my wife's. These give my wife barely 1/4 inch but shes way taller ...

Early this afternoon, I had the choice of watching the rest of an 'Inspector Morse' episode (which I have anyway!), or catching up on last week's 'X' Factor. I'm so glad I chose the latter, or I'd have missed out on my chance to see the audition of one 16-year-old lad called Brendan.
This little lad chose the wrong type of song for his audition and it didn't suit his soprano-style voice. Simon saw the talent in the boy and decided that he should re-audition with Kate Bush's 'This Woman's Work'.
The tackling of any Kate Bush song - and do it justice - is no easy task, yet Brendan managed it, third attempt, as Simon allowed him to read from the sheet of lyrics so that he would remember them. Well, it was third time lucky and, as the song reached its climax, the boy dramatically screwed up the word sheet and hit the high notes! All 4 judges gave him a 'yes' and he received a standing ovation. I somehow think we'll be hearing more from Brendan and that one day he'll be on Celebheights! Right now, he has doubtless got more growing to do...
When the judges all stood up at the end, we could see how Robbie Williams is by far the tallest of the judges, but I reckon on Rob's 5ft8 for Simon, regardless of the fact that he is a known lift wearer. If I was a guy, I'd probably wear them too! 😉

Also, about Christian's point, it doesn't matter what you claim to be, if somebody thinks you're short, you're short, i've tried claiming 178 cm (5ft 10), but it seems that people adjusts their opinions based of what you say, if you claim 175 cm (5ft 9) the ideal man's height is 180 cm (5ft 11), if you claim 178 cm (5ft 10), the ideal man's height magically becomes 183 cm (6ft) and so on, so numbers as not as important as what you look.

If Cowell were really 174cm, he wouldn't always look short-to-barely average. Guys in this range often at worst look slightly below average to very average with good posture and NO footwear tricks. What a joke, I've met the man on two different occasions. For reference I'm 178.5cm in the morning and close to 177cm at night. First time he was in shoes at A Britain's Got Talent Audition in Edinburgh, got an autograph from him and he was exactly my height (I was in converse) so I'd say 5'10" in those heels. Second occassion was last summer: saw him in a queue for a hot dog at a beach in Cornwall (go figure) and he was in sandals. I was in flip flops and he was no taller than my eye level. I'd say between 5'6" and 5'7" max. He's a shortish guy of around 5'6.5" who wears elevator shoes to boost his own ego, I'd say his heels give him 3-4 extra inches in height. All the times I've seen him on TV, I've always been struck by what a fairly pint-sized man he is. 5' 3" Cheryl Cole (as well as 5' 2" Dannii Minogue) in high heels has always stood taller than him in his own heels. If Cowell really were 5' 8.5" (and he's NOT), then he would have been the same height (or close!) as Whitney Houston when they were photographed together backstage at The X Factor UK in 2009. Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue were in the photo alongside Cowell too and, even with Whitney not standing up fully straight, she was still like Gandalf with the hobbits.

I worked as an electrician on Idol for 18 months and met him a few times during rehearsal. I'm 5.7 flat without shoes and about 5'7.5 with sneakers and he is definitely around 5.6ish as he was barely an inch taller than me with his ginormous boots with heels.

This length in trousers would look normal on a man who is 5'11 or taller but this picture suggests his actual height may be 5'7.5. The boots he wears has probably 2 inches worth of heel which would give him around 1.5 inches of height making him 5'9 in this picture. This is just my opinion but I think the 5'8.5 listing is wrong.

My uncle has a picture with him. My uncle is 5'7. Cowell looks about 1-1.5 inches taller than my uncle, but if you take into account his shoes, is probably only around 5'7 himself. He had 2 body guards with him, but they kept a fair distance so I got to meet him up close. I'm 5'10 and I was kind of shocked I was a few inches taller than him. For some reason I always thought he was around 5'11 or 6 ft.
That being said, I was at least 1.5 inches taller...probably closer to 2 inches though.

Check out the Youtube when the Idol judges were on the Jay Leno show. Simon appearred about 3 inches shorter than Jay and Jay is 5' 10" o 11". So, 5' 7" is likely Simon's height (if both were wearing the same lifts)

Imiliano they look like a standard 1.75-2inch heel for cowboy boots. A 2.5" heel has more of a slope. He doesn't need a downgrade because with those heels I've seen him almost Robbie williams (6ft)height. 5ft9 sounds about right for him. Yep - he needs a downgrade! His heels on the recent x factor shows have been HUGE. Watch carefully when the judges come out at the start of the show and you can see the heels as his trousers (more like flares to cover his shoes!) move when he walks!

Compare the photos below to the photo I posted in July and we can see something is not right. I also remember he was on some awards ceremony and had to stand next to Zoe Ball (also 5'10" possibly wearing heels) and he came up to her chin. I think he needs to come down a bit to 5'7", he only looks 5'9" in huge heels or lifts so how can his real height be nearly 5'9"? Makes no sense to me.

I also remember he was on some awards ceremony and had to stand next to Zoe Ball (also 5'10" possibly wearing heels) and he came up to her chin. I think he needs to come down a bit to 5'7", he only looks 5'9" in huge heels or lifts so how can his real height be nearly 5'9"? Makes no sense to me.

I think Cowell had huge lifts on during last nights x factor show. He seemed to be walking in a weird way when coming up the corridor and just the way that his jeans were over his shoes suggested lifts! He also appeared to be taller than Louis, which i'm sure he isn't... I reckon 1.74 is being rather generous!

I agree with Hels, I work at Dublin Airport and I've seen Louis W a load of times and he's about 5' 9". He's a good guy too.

I was at the X Factor last year and met Louis Walsh, who was the same height as my fella, 5'9", and he just had regular black slip on shoes on. When he stood next to Cowell, they were the same height, but Cowell had really big heels, around 2 inches I'd say!

Yes, Simon definitely needs a downgrade. And have you noticed how he usually employs short people to work on his shows? Take X factor, where he's employed Sharon Osbourne, Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Tweedy, Ant & Dec, Dermot etc, and American Idol with Paula Abdul and Randy. I'd say he's 5'7" dead on.

I saw this photo on the Jonathan Ross show recently and was shocked so I googled it. Cowell looks in the same range as Bruce Willis, Arnold Swarzanegger and Sylvester Stallone(in lifts probably). Cowell is in the foreground though and almost definitely in lifts. Click Here

They look like the height increasing boots Chris Whateverhisnameis from the Brady Bunch showed himself buying to get closer to his wife's head in pictures. Very chunky heal in the 2.5inch range. So Simon is probably getting about a 1.5in advantage, looking about 5'10" a lot.

He wears cowboy boots most of the time. I don't believe they give you this much height difference. He seems to have 3 inches on Glenn. I think he may be as tall as he claims 5ft 9. I've seen 5ft10 guys look smaller on this site than this though so I think his claims would be correct 5ft 9.
