John starred with Samuel L in ‘The Cell’ AND in ‘1408’. What a wonderful combination of actors ! I’m watching ‘1408’ again and I’m feeling so sorry for John character, Michael. He’s been through so much, but this just about takes the biscuit.

John is so brave in Stephen King’s 1408. He’s determined to stay there to write a book, but little after he enters, he’s being tortured, and it just gets worse and worse.
The tragedy of his life’s story unfolds and it’s not an easy watch.
Somehow, John looks a little taller than Samuel L, but I don’t know whether it’s the angles or the shoes.
John’s performance is magnificent, but I can tell you one thing - I would have taken Samuel’s advice and stayed clear of that room.
I’m giving him 6ft2.5.

John Cusack was definitely 6'2.25 (188.5cm), no question about it. He has always looked a very comfortable 6'2. So yeah 6'2.25. Nowadays he's definitely 6'1.75 (187cm). He should have a peak and nowadays height.

He's never had a good posture though. Always hunched over. Those rare occasion where he does stand tall his height is apparent.

Editor RobAt his age, it's arguable. A lot of actors in 50's might start losing small fractions and these 1/8th to 1/4 are harder to notice. When it gets to 1/2 to 3/4 I think it becomes more apparent.

Every so often, films come with alternative endings, 'Thelma and Louise' and 'Stigmata' to name but two.
I wish this had been the case with 'Room 1408'.
We are led to believe that John's writer character, Michael, is safely out of the hotel room from hell, and reunited with his wife, but I remembered from years ago that this simply isn't the case. The storyline is doomistic, eerie, sad in parts and messes with our emotions and I was wiping away tears at the end, feeling quite exhausted into the bargain!
As for the Cusack performance, I think he deserved awards for this movie, or at least nominations. He's plays a big, fearless man, and is reduced to a wreck pretty early into the story's plot, which doesn't take long to develop and terrify its audience, enhanced in no uncertain terms by the fear on John's face and understandably, the losing of his temper when he finds he can't leave that room.
I'd decided as soon as John meets Samuel L Jackson that he's a strong 6ft2. The two tall actors could indeed look one another in the face, but JC had a definite height advantage.

Also, just wanted to point out that Cusack is built like a linebacker, but it’s never really called attention to or shown in his movies.

I know full well that John Cusack is a heartthrob, and yes, I can see why, but as I own only 2 of the 11 films listed above, I guess he has earnt this status on the rom-coms he has starred in.
I have 7 of his films and the one that really made me sit up and take notice was the Stephen King film '1408.'
He plays a virtual soliloquy in this sad tale, so, apart from the equally tall Samual L. Jackson, there is nobody to compare him to. The film was so absorbing that I missed my chance on making comparisons! Then I received a copy of the film '2012' one Christmas from my boyfriend, which we watched on Christmas Day. The difference between Pattison and Cusack is more noticeable in the shots I posted back in May from Cannes...in some he looks more than 2 inches taller than Pattison. Then again some of these shots could have warping, proximity and posture that favors Cusack in those like Pattison is favored in the pics posted by Judd.

I think John is a really good example of a legit 188cm, when i watched Con Air years ago i thought that Nick Cage was 5'10 cause i assumed John was a 6 footer. Really surprised me he was so tall but its clear he is when you compare him to other actors at premiers and other events.

Editor Rob even the plumber was surprised he measured that low, a guy in his 20's ain't really gonna be losing any height, but Jackman is what 46, I'd never rule out a chance of an actor in 45-50 range losing a small fraction, especially if they did a lot of physically demanding roles, like Jackman's done in last 10 years.
