Tom's 82 years old. The average 80 year old male will have lose 2" of height since their 20's. If he was 5'10.5" in his prime, he's not over 5'8.5" today and might be even less.

Tom was about 5"9 at his peak. My dad knew him before Fame. He always wore cuban heels. He was always thick set which made him look bigger.
Btw Tom has no black blood in him. Totally Welsh. There was talk if gypsy blood in him (Black Forrest isn't too far away). There's a lot if Italian and Spanish blood in certain parts of south Wales as there is in Ireland.

Seeing him standing up at an Oxford talk he looks particularly short, like 5'5, though the young chap next to him at the beginning looks very lanky. I think 5'6 flat is probably about right, at times he can look taller though, maybe that's intentional..

That pic of Tom with Elvis is another clear example: Tom 5'10" and Elvis from 5'10.5" to maximum 5'11". In fact, I am being generous here when I say Elvis was 5'11". I am 179cm myself, and I have come across people in life (shorter than me) who genuinely thought I was at least 6'3".

Tom's "too short for his width" look comes from more growth hormone output than usual after puberty, which grows soft tissue and increases bone density throughout the body. He's got the large jaw and generally large features associated with acromegaly, although they're not as pronounced as Tony Robbins (who is disproportionately large even at his height).

No way , that he is 6 feet , maybe with the big boots that he used to wear. I remember back in 1969,when Mr.Tom Jones was in his prime, as well his famous tv show , by that time I was 11 , living in Puerto Rico, I red a big article related to his height. The article expesified why he looked so tall. The reasons were, the boots with 3 inches of heels & the cameras angle. In fact I remember when he stepped next to another good singer, Ingerber Humperdinck, he looked at least two inches smaller, even with those boots with big heels

He is a bid shorter than me (178cm, 5'10) now. At Age 74 he is 176cm (5'9.25). Then the 1.5 Inch heels.

In the late seventies I met Tom Jones at the Kahala Hilton in Hawaii where he was performing. Spent an afternoon on beach front playing volleyball with him and his family including son Mark and Tom's wife along with entourage were present as well and Tom seemed to be just under 6 feet tall. Tom was great very easy to talk to and so much fun to be around.
In the late seventies I met Tom Jones at the Kahala Hilton in Hawaii where he was performing. Spent an afternoon on beach front playing volleyball with him and his family including son Mark and Tom's wife along with entourage were present as well and Tom seemed to be just under 6 feet tall. I worked for him as a musician and I assure you that he was less than 5'5". I would guess about 5'3". He wore extremely high heels and thick soles that were hidden by bell bottom pants. We did some concerts with Susan Anton who was much taller than he and we had to set up the stage with stools so that he sat behind her from the audience which made him look as tall as her. Kelly Jones from the phonics is 5'4.5"-5'5" I've seen him in concert, front row, but typically wears clumpy shoes to look 5'6.

Marco, that's not the case in this episode. They are just loafers. Tom wore loafers and cuban heels during the same show. Usually in the concert portions, he wore the heels. I think in the above photo he and yourself are the same height, but we're also talking about a man that was what 65? when the photo was taken. He could have lost an inch.

He did not always wear the large heels in every episode. If he wasn't 5'11, he was darn close to it. I keep referencing the 1966 Awards Ceremony. There was a quick film clip of that with Dusty and Macca and it used to be on the internet. Paul wears regular dress shoes and Tom stilettos, but even with the 1-inch height advantage from the shoes, he is still 2 inches taller than 24-year-old 5'10 Paul McCartney. If he is only 5'10.5 that would make Paul only 5'9.5, which I'm sure he is now, but back then he was 5'10. He always looked between 1.5 and 2 inches shorter than Elvis and most certainly was shorter as there was an issue where his manager wanted to vet the photos they had taken together to remove those that clearly showed Elvis was taller. With Elvis probably just scraping 6ft, Tom was most likely 5'10 to 5'10 1/2 in his prime.
He always looked between 1.5 and 2 inches shorter than Elvis and most certainly was shorter as there was an issue where his manager wanted to vet the photos they had taken together to remove those that clearly showed Elvis was taller. With Elvis probably just scraping 6ft, Tom was most likely 5'10 to 5'10 1/2 in his prime.

Glenn, let's not forget Jones is an old man and has been an old man for quite a while so he's probably shrunk an inch or so. I used to watch his show when I was little and he appeared 5'11 to me. He's got a large head so he appears shorter than what he is. He used to wear some ridiculous heels on his show, but he didn't wear them all of the time. Fred Willard was about 3 inches taller than him.

Saw some pics and videos of Tom recently. He's 66 now, so a 177cm (5'9.5") is possible these days. However, never ever a ridiculous 5'8 like some claim.

Tom is about 5'9". On stage he wears huge lifts. I know since I saw him wearing them in Las Vegas when I went to see his concert.

I see Tom all the time in Vegas and have stood next to him to talk and have pictures...I'm six feet tall, he is as tall as me w/his shoes on and they aren't considerable lifts so I would say he is 5'10 in his stocking feet.

I think 5'10.5 is pretty much what Jones was in his heydey. He's probably 5'.9.5 now. He was slightly taller than Lennon and McCartney who were both 5'10. In a UK special from 1972 he was the same height as Kirk Douglas but I think Kirk was 5'10 back then...slightly taller than son Michael.

When he finally did stand at the end of lunch he 'appeared' to be short. I am 6' and he was considerably shorter (perhaps 4 inches) which brings him in at 5'8". But who cares really the man has had, and continues to have, a brilliant career.

I'd hazard a guess of old Tom being quite a bit shorter than this more like 5'8.5 - 5'9 and a fan of some 'special' shoes. I remember him being on Fresh Prince Of Bel Air and looking very small next to Will Smith - Carlton's height in fact!
